Hi,

I'm using a Pioneer N50 network media player, with Mezzmo as my DNLA server on a Windows 7 64 computer. I've tested a number of DNLA-servers and Mezzmo wins hands down so I purchased a licence. There's one thing though that Mezzmo can't persuade my Pioneer to do, and that's display album art for music files (most are flac, but mp3 does not work either). I'm not using it for video, so I can't verify if it's a problem with music files only.

The problem seems to be that the picture, when added in Mezzmo, is not embedded in the flac file. I know this to be a fact as Mp3Tag does not list a cover for the files processed by Mezzmo. If I add album art manually using Mp3Tag, the file not only is listed as having embedded art work, but using Asset UPnP the art work is displayed on my Pioneer. Again, the Pioneer does not display art work for the very same file if it is streamed from Mezzmo.

For me, it's not a dealbreaker as the screen on the Pioneer is too small anyway, so I thought I should simply report it. It's just one of these things that keep nagging, it should work but it isn't.

I use a Panasonic 2011 TV profile and both Flac and MP3 files display Album art correctly for me. I have a mixture of both file-embedded art (using foobar 1.x) and 'folder.jpg' files. I know that does not answer your question, but it may be something you want to try. If you don't fancy using Foobar to embed art (It can be a bit initimidating to start off with) have a look at MediaMonkey

Thanks for the suggestion Bodders-11. I tried playing around with various profiles, Panasonic Viera 2011, Marantz BDP, but the profiles I've tried so far give me a "file format not supported" error for files that are perfectly playable with the customary profile (Pioneer VSX). There are still a lot of profiles to be tested though, I'll keep trying.

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest trying alternate profiles :-). What I meant was trying to create a folder.jpg or embed artwork into the Flac file to see if that makes a difference. Stick with the correct profile (Pioneer VSX) to ensure that you can play the fil eoptimally.

Hi brigitte,

Mezzmo does not embed artwork into music files but rather tells your DLNA device that there's artwork available for each item (music track) that is listed in a playlist or folder and then your DLNA device requests the artwork from Mezzmo. That's how the DLNA standard works and most (all?) DLNA media servers work as well. My guess is that your Pioneer wants the artwork presented in a certain manner. We have made a few changes in this area in the new Mezzmo v3.0. Please upgrade to this new version and try again. If no better, then please turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Connect to Mezzmo using your Pioneer device and try streaming your files. When no artwork is displayed, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all your logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. Let us know how you go.
