Hello - Just discovered that My SMP-N200 will not play AVIs that my SMP-N100 will play. I also uncovered that Sony has disabled AVI's over DNLA in these forums but cannot substantiate that through the googleplex. My SMP-N200 is hard wired not wireless. I am a little confused and would like investigate before I start to re-encode files...

Update... Some Avi's play some do not...

Update again...

The non-playing AVI's have a fourcc for DIV3 while the ones that do play are XVID. I tried changing the fourcc value to DIV4 DIV5 but still says corrupt. Treid changing to XVID and the video disappeared while the audio played.

Can anyone explain this? I have been searching for answers but always seem to end up here for any information.

Hi Mark,

Are you using the "Sony SMP-N200 (NTSC)" or "Sony SMP-N200 (PAL)" device profiles with your SMP-N200? Can you post the FFmpeg information on a few files that play and don't play? Right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Also, we've just added FOURCC detection into our device profiles for Mezzmo v3.0 (just released today :D) so we will be able to tweak them so that Mezzmo will stream AVIs with certain FOURCCs natively and transcode the others.

I am using "Sony SMP-N200 (NTSC)." I never considered using the PAL version casue on my North American location. I assumed all my devices would need the NTCS profile. Should I try PAL?

Here is the FFmpeg infor from one of them
