I installed Mezzmo 3.0 today and ran the recommended library maintenance. It stopped at Processing active playlists 7361 files remaining. 100% CPU load on a Core i7 3770k. 30% of this load generated by Mezzmo, 70% (/-) caused by the Behavioral Analyser of my GDATA Virus Protection. Mezzmo hung - no progress visible. I am running Win8 64k.

I then killed Mezzmo - the behavioral analysis stopped as well. Result: 0% CPU load.

Restarted Mezzmo and Library maintenance. Result: 100% CPU load, 30% Mezzmo, 70% Behavioural Analyser of GDATA. Mezzmo working at first through the library then hanging again at 7361 active playlist items remaining.

Result: I wasn't able to complete the library maintenance. I am back to Mezzmo 2.7.1.17 with the 2.7.1. library.

Compare this to Mezzmo 2.7.1.17 on the same platform and with 100% the same items in its library: CPU Load with Mezzmo library maintenance running: 5-7%, Behavioral Analysis 0,4%!

Disappointment: No functional improvement visible in version 3.0. What justifies to label this a new version?

Best regards
Bernhard

My first boot with V3.0.0.0 also caused quite an upset in my system (Windows 7 HPE with an i7-3770), my issue was with metadata downloading from the internet. Seems it was dowloading subtitle and album art for my videos. I went in and disabled the internet metadata for my videos, it's on by default. (if I want subtitles I'll rip my videos with the subtitles).

I have to agree with the question about why a new Version number was given, in the front-end the only thing that I've noticed is there is some options for subtitles in the media device settings.

Hi Bernhard,

It appears that GDATA Behavioural Analyzer may be interfering/conflicting with Mezzmo in some way (i.e. GDATA is running at 70% CPU load when Mezzmo is running). Can you try turning GDATA off as a test and see what happens when you run Mezzmo?

We will install GDATA here and try to reproduce your problem. We will report back after testing it.

Hi SLPopp,

Just to clarify: Mezzmo does not download subtitles. It does download artwork and text metadata (title, year, genre, actors, directors, description, season, episode) from IMDB.com and TheTVDB.com web sites. As you have found out, you can turn this off if you wish using Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog in the Options dialog (Retrieving Metadata page).

In terms of new features, there's plenty - subtitles (external, embedded & burning), ripped DVD + DVD ISO streaming, gapless music, preferred audio + video channel selection, getting metadata from online sources, Series playlist, latest device support, etc. Take a look at the What's New page on our site for more information (http://www.conceiva.com/products/mezzmo/whatsnew.asp) or the Features page (http://www.conceiva.com/products/mezzmo/features.asp).

Hi Bernhard,

OK I did starting from the very same state of running Mezzmo 2.7.1.17 (using my image backups of my C-partition).

Firstly that second run of installing Mezzmo did not finish under my usual user account with admin rights. Several dlls could not be written.Strange as it did finish when installing two days ago from the same state. I then reinstalled with 'run as administrator' and got the install finalizing.

I then switched off the behavioral analysis of GDATA and ran a full-lib maintenance refreshing all metadata. CPU load app. 30% caused by Mezzmo - ok.

It ran through but mixed up the cover information in my music library - no good. Reran full lib maintenance with same effect.

So I removed the folders containing my music files and re-added it later. The library build did not complete getting stuck at 13xx active playlist items remaining. Reran the lib maintenance updating all metadata, got stuck again at the same point.

I have since reinstalled my earlier image backup with Mezzmo 2.7.1.17 as the family demands a working streaming infrastructure.

Best regards
Bernhard

P.S. 3.0 has not inspired any confidence in me yet. If 3.0 would promise a huge gain in functionality - ok. But as stated earlier for users like me 3.0 appears to just be a destabilized 2.x

Hi Paul,

Don't spend time analyzing this problem any further. As posted in my other thread
http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/5714-Music-Metadata-issues-with-2-7-1-and-3-0 I think it all comes down to an issue with metadata handling in Mezzmo.

The issue isn't caused by 3.0, it has already existed in 2.7.1. The issue just gets aggravated by the full-update of my music library with all metadata search functions activated.

The issue still needs to be addressed though but thats something I have no doubt you will help me on anyway.

Bernhard
