How can a create a playlist that shows a merged list of files from two different disk folders?

I have a playlist 'TV Fiction' that came from a single disk folder. Now the drive is full so I have an additional drive and have created an additional 'TV Fiction' folder there. I want to see on my Samsung TV a 'TV Fiction' entry that seamlessly combines the files from the two folders.

Is this possible?

I tried creating a playlist and adding the two folders to it, but on the television they each appeared as subfolders under the parent entry.

If all else fails I'll have 'TV Fact' and 'Films' on one drive and 'TV Fiction' on the other, but I'm sure that the sizes won't naturally match to the disk space available, which will cause problems later on.

Suggestions gratefully received !

Depends what type of playlist you want.

I have a "Smart Playlist" that brings Tv Series together from 3 drives and is set up with the following MAtch Crteira:
- "File Path Contains TV Series" - make sure that you have the same folder name set up on each disk
- "File Type Video"

Note that this will only give you a listing of all files in the folders named. There is no way to create an active play list to group by the actual Program/Season/Episode.

The cataloguing/grouping of files is one of my bugbears in Mezzmo. It would be great to have a combination of active/smart playlists and setups such as the rollo.

That is indeed very poor. I tried this and as you mentioned, got all the items in one huge messy list, with no folder structure. Them I remembered that Win7 has a built-in answer to this problem - 'libraries'. Except Mezzmo shows them in the 'pick folder' dialog, but won't let you select one.

In the end I tried to add all my subfolders manually to a static playlist, except Mezzmo crashed half way through.

Mezzmo seems to have a hidden design assumption that your media library fits on one drive.

A few users here have discussed media files spanning across multiple drives. One solution may be to use Windows symlinks. See this thread for more details - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/3375-Merging-multiple-drives-to-be-seen-as-one

Thanks Paul

I have followed that but I want one solution to deal with this and that is Mezzmo. I look forward to the day when Mezzmo has improved cataloging/grouping of files with a combination of active/smart playlists and setups such as the rollo.

Seen this mentioned many times on the wish list.

We have a few ideas regarding merging folders from multiple drives, so hopefully we can get the time to include this feature into a future version. We certainly understand it is a common situation for home users to have multiple drives containing 'like' media.

Just an update - Mezzmo v3.4 now has a new feature called Merged Folders and this lets you combine folders from different drives (NAS, USB and internal) so that you can browse a single folder structure in Mezzmo and on your devices. See this FAQ for more details - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/6338-Tutorial-How-to-merge-folders-from-different-drives-%28NAS-USB-or-internal%29
