Just updated to the new mezzmo version 3.0.1.0 now I am having problems adding new media to my library. I try and add new avi and MKV files but mezzmo responds with invalid media file.

Your upgrade may not have installed correctly, so please do the following:

Stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (if running). Download the latest Mezzmo installer from http://www.conceiva.com/downloads and then run it. Choose to do a Repair when prompted. After that completes, run Mezzmo and start your Mezzmo server. If still a problem, let us know and we'll help further.

I have a similar but slightly different issue, but wanted to check before I follow the above process in case all the meta data gets wiped.

I added some new mkv files to the server today and refreshed/maintained the library, but they wouldn't appear. I got around it by adding them to the library manually so it's not a massive problem, but any ideas why?

EDIT - I backed upall the database files and ran a Repair. Still have the same issue - new mkv and m2ts files not appearing when I maintain the library

Hi Pootle,

In Mezzmo, if you browse to the folder that has the new files, do you see them listed in Mezzmo? If you have added a folder into your Mezzmo library, then Mezzmo will pick up all the files in that folder and sub-folder as you browse into the folder (or sub-folders) in Mezzmo or on your device. You don't actually need to maintain your library to see them. On the other hand, if you have added your files in Mezzmo using Scan Drives/Folder, then Mezzmo scans for files just the one time and you will have to run it again if you wish to add more files at a later date.

Hi

Do you mean in the "File Browser" tab? I can't see any files in there, just the folders.

All I used to do was copy the files to the relevant folder on the hard drive via Windows Explorer (ie the Videos folder), and Mezzmo would pick the new files up (I think I would have to maintain the library inorder to update the active playlists?).

Now, the only way I can see the new files anywhere in Mezzmo is to manually add then (Add To Library> Add Files)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Pootle,

Do you mean in the "File Browser" tab? I can't see any files in there, just the folders.

No, I mean browsing your Mezzmo library using the tree on the left in Mezzmo. You should be able to walk down folders/playlists and see your files as they will appear on your device when browsing Mezzmo server. This includes seeing files you have just copied into a folder on your hard disk - assuming you have added that folder into your Mezzmo library.

What you used to do is the correct way. You just need to add your files to your folders using Windows Explorer and Mezzmo (or Mezzmo server) will pick them up the next time you browse into that folder in Mezzmo or on your device. If that does not happen for you, then turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Copy a file into the folder on your hard disk and then go your device and browse into that folder from Mezzmo server. If the file does not appear, then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. In you email, write down the name of the file you added so we can find it in the logs.

Thanks - I have browsed using the tree on the left and the new files do not appear.

I'll run the logs tonight and semnd them over.

Thanks, Pootle.

How did you add the folder of files into Mezzmo in the first place? Did you use "Add To Library" -> "Add Folder" or did you use "Add To Library" -> "Scan Drive/Folder For Media Files"? If the latter, then that would explain it. The scan only finds files and adds them into your Mezzmo library once (it never looks for files again), whereas adding a folder will create a dynamic folder in your Mezzmo tree and will be kept in sync with your folder on your hard disk/NAS. If you are unsure, right-click on the folder you are browsing in the Mezzmo tree and click Properties. Either the Folder Properties dialog or Playlist Properties dialog will be displayed. Perhaps take a screenshot and email it to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. That will help us understand your problem better.

Hi,

The issue was caused by me deleting the main folder that was linked to the server. I had kept all the active playlists etc that I set up, but without that folder none of the dynamic links existed meaning that my playlists wouldn't automatically sync with the media folder on my server. I've added the folder back again and everything works.

Thanks
