hi folks,

Currently I am evaluating Mezzmo if it is a good media server for me.
Before I used Playstation 3 Media Server(PMS) but the only problem with that is that it is a little laggy sometimes and I cant get it work to send more data to the television.
So now I am testing various media servers. Mezzmo works pretty well, it sends more movie data and it doesn't lagg.
The only thing that bugs me is that Mezzmo doesn't support subtitles for my television (Philips Smart TV 6000 series). So I have to hardcode it.
PSM does support external subtitles or embedded subtitles for my television. Am I right that Mezzmo doest support this for my television or am I doing something wrong?
My device profile is Philips (2009) models. When I try the profile: Philips 7000 series my TV crash so that doesn't work.
I am also foreseeing problems with 3D movies. With PMS I used 3D subtitler and it works flawless but I have no clue about how to get that work with Mezzmo?

Thanks in advance!

Jeanpierre

I think Mezzmo supports subtitles for all tv's, if the tv supports external subs itself. It might be that the device profile doesn't exactly match your tv's specifications, but you can overrule them in the Subtitles tab (you'll get a warning).

Hi Jeanpierre,

BlueCrane is right - Mezzmo can stream external and embedded subtitles to any device that supports external or embedded subtitles. The device profile that has been selected determines whether or not external or embedded subtitles are streamed to the device. You can override this by editing your device in the Media Devices dialog. In the Device Settings dialog, go to the Subtitles tab and click the Edit button next to the Supported subtitle formats section. Here you can add the external and embedded formats that you think your device supports. On the Transcoding tab, delete your transcoded files. Now when you try streaming your video files to your device, Mezzmo will use these subtitle settings to stream your videos & subtitles.

If you find that your Philips does work with external and embedded subtitles, please do let us know and we'll add those subtitle formats into the device profile (so you & other Philips TV owners don't need to manually add them in using the above method).

Hi,

Does Mezzmo recognize your subtitles for the video file? Check in Mezzmo's library: search your file, right-click, Properties, Subtitles-tab. Maybe your filename is not recognized and you have to adapt it. You can also manually add a subtitle.

Does streaming external subtitles (srt) via USB, without any media server?

Oke I did where u asked for, this are the results:

External subtitles all worked.
Tested 1 embedded subtitle which didn't work.(Probably embedded subs are not supported)
The only thing you have to do is press the subtitle button on your remote and enable subs.

Any idea why external subs don't work when Mezzmo sends them?
Most probably there is somewhere a wrong setting but I don't know what that is.

Is there maybe a setting on you tv to enable subs by default? It could be that it doesn't work because your tv doesn't load subs by default and when streaming, you cannot activate them (is maar een wilde gok).
And the external subs showed up in the Subtitles tab for the file?

Hi jeanpierre92,

It's best you send us a set of logs and we'll see what Mezzmo is streaming to your TV. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Connect to Mezzmo from your TV and try streaming a video that has external subtitles. When you don't see any subtitles displaye don your TV, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Hello
I am also having problems with getting subtitles on Philips TV 2013 (32PFL4508).
Here are supported subs formats:
http://s28.postimg.org/btkgg9v09/100_9631.jpg (http://postimg.org/image/btkgg9v09/)

I have tried many differrent media servers - I could not get subs with any without transcoding.
Mezzmo seems very good for me because it is customizable and easy to use. I am using evaluation version and if I could get subtitles working - I will stop searching and will buy it.

Mezzmo recognized my TV as Panasonic BD75 renderer. I have edited the profile (not the prf file) from the menu for the device - removed support for .srt and added support for .ssa and .ass.

I have enabled logging. Logs are attached as zip file.

Need help please
