Hi guys,

I've noticed that if I mark some movies as having 5-stars in Mezzmo that this has nothing to do with the properties of the file itself. If I click the properties on that file the star rating will be empty. At the same time, if I put star ratings on video files through explorer, Mezzmo takes no notice of them. Am I missing something here. As I go through my files to categorise them, it's easier to give ratings to them immediately rather than trying to hunt them down through the mezzmo interface and doing it that way.

Hi Snyper,

Mezzmo does not touch your media files on disk. It never writes metadata into your media files (including the star rating you set in Mezzmo). All metadata changes you make in Mezzmo are stored in your Mezzmo database. So that explains why you do not see these changes in Windows Explorer.

Mezzmo only reads metadata from your files, or from external metadata files (.xml, .nfo, .tgmd, etc.), or from web sites (www.tvdb.com, www.imdb.com, etc.) when you initially add your files into Mezzmo or when you maintain your files using the Maintain Library dialog. In addition, when you do maintain your files, Mezzmo will only overwrite existing metadata that you have when you explicitly tell the Maintain Library dialog to do this. The "Update all files" radio button in the Maintain Library dialog controls this. To maintain all your files, click Tools -> Maintain Library. To maintain just the files in a certain folder / playlist, right-click on the folder / playlist and click Maintain Playlist.
