Hi

My WHS2011 box has been in storage for a few months while house renovations have been going on. Before this, everything was working fine - now I am back online again tonight for the first time, have upgraded to 3.1.1.0 and films that were playing perfectly well before are now stuttering, and I am getting a transcoding rate of about 17fpsor less.

I am confused as to why this is happening as nothing has changed - same server, same TV - Panasonic TX-L37DT30 (with same device profile - Viera 2011 models), same wired network/router etc, same m2ts files....only thing I am aware of that has changed is the version of Mezzmo I am using (I think it was 2.7.x previously)

Any suggestions (or a new version of that particluar profile) gratefully recieved

Thanks

EDIT - I've just emailed the logs to you...and the FFmpeg data for one of the films that used to work is below.

I've also had Mezzmo crash on me a few times tonight - those logs have also been emailed.

Hi - email sent but it bounced back as undelivered (support [at] conceiva [dot] com)

Is this still the correct address?

That's the correct email address. Strange - we've received many support emails (with attachments) over the past few days. If the zip file is larger than 10MB, then the email may bounce - in this case, please upload it to a filesharing site like mega.co.nz, dropbox or rapidshare.

That would explain it - the 3 zipped logs containing the crash reports were about 10MB in total. I'll resend agan but only include the 2 most recent logs

Thanks, Pootle. Or, you can send each ZIP in separate emails.

Hi Pootle,

Regarding the transcoding speed difference between v2.7.x and v3.1.1, the "Panasonic Viera (2011 models)" device profile now does have a maximum video bitrate of 15Mbps and your video file has a bitrate of 34 Mbps, so Mezzmo must fully transcode the video channel to reduce the bitrate - whereas in v2.7.x, Mezzmo simply just copied (remuxed) the video channel. We added the maximum bitrate as other Viera owners reported that videos with high bitrates did not play on their TVs.

Go to the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo and change the device for your TV to "Panasonic Viera (2011 models, NTSC)". That may stream better for you.

Regarding your crashes, what were you doing when Mezzmo server crashed? From the crash dump files that you sent us, it appears you were stopping Mezzmo server and it crashed.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the reply - I'll try the NTSC profile. If this doesn't work, is the bitrate something that I can edit in my copy of the "2011 models" profile (I'll back up the original)? It seemed to work well for me previously...

Regarding the crash log, I can't recall what I was doing I'm afraid. Hasn't crashed since, so I'll just keep an eye open in case it happens again.

Thanks

If the NTSC device profile does not work well for you, then we can certainly create a device profile for you that does not have the bitrate restriction. Email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll send it out to you.

Thanks Paul - NTSC profile seems to work for 99% of my media files so I'll stick with that and experiement with tweaking the profile for thre other 1% when I get some time.

Appreciate your help.

Glad to hear you are back up and running, Pootle.

changed it to NTSC .... no effect. Still way too slow. And after stopping many apps, still pegging my AMD (4 processors) at 99%.

Hi John,

Please post your TV model number and post the FFmpeg information for the video that is slow. Right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'.

I too am seeing some streaming problems (stuttering) with the latest version that didn't happen before. Restarting the meezmo service helped.
Imho, 3.1.1.0 needs some work.

We are preparing a minor update at the moment and this contains fixes for issues reported to us and some improvements. It should be released in the next week.

If you get this stuttering issue again, then we'd like to see a set of logs so we can find out what is causing the problem. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Reproduce the stuttering problem and, when it occurs, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
