Hello 2 all !

- bought myself a Playstation 3 a few weeks ago.
- I am preparing a Macmini (installing windows 7 Professional on it) to be a mediacenter for the PS3.
- I just bought Mezzmo (cause i have read almost only positive comments on internet about it).
- Gonna install Mezzmo on my Windows 7-Macmini.

There is one thing i am abit skeptic about:

I have to buy an external harddrive to have the full mezzmo library on,
cause the internal HD of the macmini is only just 80 GB (it's too little for me).

So i think i am gonna by a new western digital 2 TB external drive (via USB2).

Question is : someone knows if such a usb 2 drive is capable enough (together with windows 7) to stream fast enough ? (like HD content).

Kind regards,

Rob.

Hi,

Assuming your HD content is encoded with an efficient codec (Xvid, H264, etc...) then USB 2.0 speed should be fast enough to stream that content, as long your network itself is wired and not wireless (wireless HD streaming is a very hit-or-miss case). Your external HDD should be faster than a 100 Mbits wired network.

Hi,

Yes, we're streaming HD movies here from an external USB drive (even MPEG2!), so you should be fine. As RMerlin correctly noted, you'd want a wired connection for that.
