I have upgraded to 3.2 but even before then I was having some stuttering issues when transcoding or streaming to my xbox. However the update did fix movies stopping before they were finished thankfully. The issue I am having is that sometimes the audio and video slows down by half a second as it plays or the episodes will almost slow down and fall out of sync. I have a really good spec'd pc and the network is all within the same room and using ethernet so I am not sure what the problem is. I am not sure either that the problem is a specific format because all formats seem to be affected. The only series that I have which this does not happen on is an old show back in the 90's. However newer series like defiance, Dr Who etc etc are all affected. Some are MKV and some are AVI. It generally depends, So I am at a loss here as to what to do.

Thanks for reporting this. Can you provide a sample video where this happens and we'll test it here with our Xbox 360. Upload the video to a filesharing site like mega.co.nz, dropbox or rapidshare and email the download link to support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

After testing we found the stuttering to be caused by the framerate of the file being incorrectly set, the original file has 25fps but if we transcode to 29.97fps the stuttering is gone and the file plays smoothly. We have updated the XBox profile to include 29.97fps encoding for mpegts with mpeg2video.

The file worked for a few minutes before the same thing happened, Another file worked for 30 out of the 40 minutes until it simply paused and would not continue. Not even a sign of buffering. It seems to be a transcoding issue to the 360 as movies work perfectly and other things of the same format as the Tv Series but the TV series simply have errors. Some series work, some don't so I am unsure as to the Issue. All the files work on the pc however perfectly.

A bug with the FPS and the Xbox?

Good to see we've made some progress but it is still not perfect. Can you send us one of the TV series videos that does not play correctly after transcoding? We'll reproduce the problem here with our Xbox 360 & find out what is causing the problem. Upload the video to a filesharing site like mega.co.nz, dropbox or rapidshare and email us the download link to support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

I have not actually tested if this issue is fixed by pre transcoding. As If I had to pre transcode every ep it would take a long time and I don't want to have to pre transcode the files. This kind of defeats the purpose.

Understand - but pre-transocding to that format for now will help us know if it is playing OK with that format. Once this is established, then we can tweak the device profile to transcode to this (working) format on-the-fly. So, please pre-transcode to the 29.97 fps format and let us know the result.

I can confirm now that after pre-transcoding the file that it worked perfectly. I was able to watch the entire episode, Without any hitches or sound/audio glitches with the new 29.97 fps format.

OK - thanks for confirmation. We'll email you an updated device profile that will auto-transcode to 29.97 fps so you do not have to manually pre-transcode.

You can force your files to be transcoded on the fly by going to ‘Media Devices’ and double-click your device in the list then on the Advanced tab change the setting for ‘Deliver media files supported by the device’ to ‘Never Deliver’ and this will cause your files to always be transcoded to correct the fps problem.

Okay great,

I will wait for the file then for the profile as I have not received it yet, perhaps a re send?

Sorry for the confusion - Peter's follow-up email is actually best solution. Please edit your device's settings in Mezzmo and that should work fine (rather than send you a new device profile).
