Hi all,
I just installed the trial version due to the nothing but positive reviews with hopes this will make my server stream to my Sony Bravia tv. Everything seems to show up on the tv as expected but when i go the my pc which is running windows home server 2003 and launch the program to set the settings, the main screen shows up for a few seconds until i move my mouse. Once the mouse is moved the program shuts off. i can still see the icon in the tray but as soon as i move the mouse pointer over it it disappears as well and i have to launch the program again with the same results. Not sure what is wrong. Running windows home server 2003 w/sp3. Not sure if it has anything to do with it but i am using an belking kv switch as well. Never had issues with it in the past just thought i would throw that out there. Any suggestions? Would really like to be able and play with program before i buy to make sure it works for me.

Hi,

Can you please make a screenshot of Mezzmo, before it crashes (which is easily reproducible, in my understanding, right?) and send it to support (at) conceiva (dot) com?

i can't take a screen shot. When it does come up it's only displayed for a quick second and then goes away. Sometimes it doesn't come up at all, all i will get is the mezzmo icon in the system tray and as soon as i move my mouse over it it goes away as well. could it be a hardware acceleration issue? All i have noticed is that in the bottom right corner is says "Media server: stopped". At a total loss here.

This reminds me a bit of the bug 2.1.7 had involving iTunes and iOS4. Can you double check that you did install 2.1.8? Also, do you have any USB storage devices connected (iPhone, iPod, other MP3 player, USB drive, etc...)? If yes, try unplugging them before restarting Mezzmo, see what happens.

Hi RMerlin, i uninstalled and re-installed the program twice. On the second go around i watched as it scanned my video, music, and photos folders. The video and photos scanned ok but about 75% of the way through the music i got a "microsoft c++ runtime library error. Program: C:\program files\conceiva\mezzmo\mezzmo.exe. this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more info". It seemed to finish the scan reguardless but now i can't launch the program again. I also have no outside devices plugged into my pc. I am using a shuttle as my server pc. I hope the added info is of some help. And yes i did install 2.1.8.

Looks like it might be crashing while processing a file, and leaving you with a corrupted database then. I would recommend trying to delete the existing database (it should be somewhere like C:\Documents & Settings\<username>\Application Data\Conceiva\Mezzmo - delete all .db files there). Then, see if you can at least open Mezzmo. If it does open try having it only scan a limited subset of your music folders, so you can pinpoint which file (or folder) is causing it to crash.

Yes, looks exactly like that's what's happening. Please delete the database files and try running Mezzmo again. If it runs, please turn on diagnostic logging (see this thread: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging), then scan folders (preferrably in small subsets) and once it crashes send the logs to support (at) conceiva (dot) com - hopefully it'll show the file or at least a folder with the offending file.

ok did a scan through of my music files and found one flac audio file. Relocated it out of the music folder, deleted the music .db file and rescaned. Everything seemed to be fine this time. Rescaned the video, music and photo folders and went through without a hitch. I also had a couple of ts folders in my video folder, they didn't show up at all and it seemed to slow it down with them in there so i also removed them and left nothing but .avi files in the video folder. So far so good. Will keep you posted if any odd things happen. Are .flac files not compatable with Mezzmo? Just curious

Thanks for the results. Can you please send that FLAC file to support (at) conceiva (dot) com for investigation? Mezzmo supports FLAC files, but maybe that one has something weird in it which causes a crash. If we have the file here, we'll be able to check it out.
