Hi all,

Ive been having issues with playing both mkv's and divx file types for a while now and it is getting annoying. I have tried reinstalling mezzmo and even my pc, changed network setup, everything i can think of. So basically I can play mp4's and most avi files on the Xbox however any divx files (divx encoded avi files) does what I would call a stutter. The video slows down and the audio becomes drawn out, sort of like when your old walkman would go flat and the tape was playing too slow. This is the main issue I am having with Mezzmo at the moment, makes these filetypes unwatchable. I can convert the to x264 mp4's and they work but its I dont want to have to do this for every file.

MKV's just stop and start regardless of whether they have been pre-transcoded.

My setup:
i5 2nd gen 3.2ghz
6gb ram
500mb lan over power (though i have tried with 1gbs lan with same results)

Any help with this annoying problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Daniel

Hi Daniel,

The 'Microsoft Xbox 360' device profile tells Mezzmo to stream these AVI files directly to your Xbox. So there must be something in the way the AVI file has been encoded that causes your Xbox to not be able to play it smoothly. We've seen this before with other Xbox users - i.e. Xbox firmware does not seem to tolerate poorly encoded videos (whereas other devices can play the same video files fine). The fix is to pre-transcode the AVI to another Xbox supported format (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/6025-Tutorial-Pre-transcoding-Files).
