So I have been looking for the solution to being able to stream my media to my new Nokia Lumia 920 (Windows Phone 8) and came across 'Mezzmo' as a possible media server and use 'MyMediaHub' as the front-end app on the phone to consume the content. The installation went smooth and I love the simple interface of Mezzmo and added my content to the libraries and connected using the phone. Almost everything works (isn't that always the case!).

Phone and Setup -
Phone :
The phone in question is Nokia Lumia 920 (running Windows Phone 8). A quick overview of the phone's video playback capabilities -
Video playback frame rate: 1080P / 30.0 fps
Video playback codecs: VC-1, Windows video, H.264/AVC, H.263, MPEG-4
Video playback file formats: MP4, WMV, AVI, 3GP, 3G2, M4V, MOV

Mezzmo :
Simple straightforward setup.
Profile : Generic NTSC profile is selected (Microsoft Windows Phone 7 profile showed nothing in listings)
Transcoding : Disabled but enabling it does not change anything.

Issue -
All listings work perfectly fine.
720p WMV : Works
720 MP4 : Works
1080p WMV : Works
1080p MP4 : Does not work

All 4 of these files play fine when they are copied locally on the phone, so the phone is capable of playing them.

Suggestions/Workarounds -
Is it possible to force the transcoding of 1080p MP4 to 1080 WMV so that it plays on my phone. What is the recommended profile to use on 'Microsoft Windows Phone 8' (the listing is blank when using Windows Phone 7 profile)?

I would love to get this resolved for my Windows Phone 8 as I am really impressed with the Mezzmo trial so far and would love to buy this as the solution for my setup.

Thanks!

Hi Leo,

Thanks for the detailed information. We don't yet have a specific device profile for Windows Phone 8 devices, but we're happy to create one for you and other WP8 device owners. It does not require too much information to create the device profile. Here's what we need from you:

Turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Connect to Mezzmo from your Nokia and browse and play a few files - including your MP4 that does not play. Then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
Provide a list of all the video, music, photo and subtitle formats that your Nokia supports. You should find these in your manual or on the product page on Nokia'a web site.

Once we get this information, we'll create a new device profile for you to try.

Hi Paul,

Email sent to support with two sets of diagnostic logs, one with transcoding enabled and another with transcoding disabled.

BTW, when transcoding is enabled - no files plays. Zero. With transcoding disabled, everything except 1080P MP4 plays.

Thanks, Leo. Got your logs. We'll analyze them shortly and get back to you via email with a WP8 device profile to try.

Sorry about that. We've updated the installer to include the Windows Phone 8 device profile. Please download the Mezzmo installer from http://www.conceiva.com/downloads and then run it. When prompted, do a Repair and it will add the missing device profile.
