Is it possible to get a profile for the Western Digital Live Streaming Medial Player (Gen 3) that will only transcode music (audio) files to a compatible profile but leave EVERY thing else untouched??

What I am looking for is a profile what will transcode WMA Losses music files (.wma) to a compatible stream; but not do any transcoding of any other files I may try to play such as video or photo (.m2ts, .mkv, .mpeg, .jpg, etc).

I have been creating my video files in a format that is natively supported by the WD, but I have 500+ music albums that are ripped in a Windows WMA Lossless format (using windows media center in WinXP) that I don't want to have to re-rip or convert.

Thanks,
Steve

Also, Is there something wrong with the main Conceiva site?? When I try to access it I get the following error. I have tried re-booting the computer, router, and wireless modem but no luck. This error also pops up when using the download link for the new Mezzme version in the News and Announcements section.

The error I was receiving about Conceiva server access has stopped. I can now access the main page and downloads. Don't know what was causing it??

Using the WD TV Live profile, is Mezzmo transcoding your video & photo files? If it is, then we can improve the device profile to not transcode these videos & photos. We'll need the FFmpeg information for files that can play directly on your WD without transcoding. Email this to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Sorry about the long delay...

As of a few versions ago, Mezzmo was transcoding M2TS files that it didn't need to for the Western Digital TV Live Streaming Media player (Gen 3). I haven't tried it with transcoding enabled lately (currently have v3.3.0.0 installed).

The reason I was asking about a music-only profile was I had a Home Theater PC setup to play all my ripped CD's (500+) and I ripped them onto the computer using Windows Media Player and encoded them in a WMA Lossless format. The power supply on the PC quit and I was looking for another way to play my music. I currently have the transcoding disabled for my WD TV Live Streaming Media players and they won't play a WMA Lossless file native.

I recently purchased a Sony STR-DN1040 receiver and I plan on using the network capabilities of the receiver to fulfill the roll of my music player. I have some thoughts about that but I will start another thread about that as it doesn't have anything to do with the original topic of this thread.

Thanks,

Steve.

Hi Steve,

You can set up Mezzmo to stream your WMA Lossless music to a certain device in your home. If the device does not support WMA Lossless format, then make sure transcoding is turned on for that device (go to the Media Devices dialog and edit your device to do this). If you don't want videos, photos, etc. listed on this device (i.e. just your music folders/playlists/files), then you can set the playlist permissions for your top-level video and photo playlists to exclude this "music-only" device in your home. Right-click on the top-level playlists and click 'Playlist Sharing Permissions'. Once done, Mezzmo server will not list any playlist/folder that you have excluded.
