View Full Version : Incorrect cover art being retrieved.

I noticed something a little odd with cover art retrieval while Mezzmo processing several movie folders.

For items that were retrieved the first time around using the automatic process, the retrieved covers from TMDB were not English covers. For example, the movie
Colossus The Forbin Project; metadata text was retrieved in English, the cover retrieved was German (DE). For the movie Akira, the metadata text was retrieved in English, the cover retrieved was Japanese (JP). Both of these movies have the correct cover art when checking the TMDB site.

When correcting these using Get Online Video Metadata, the correct language covers were retrieved.

Also, many of the movies in our folders have the year attached to the end of the filename: Akira 1988.mkv

When files that have the year attached are processed by Mezzmo, no metadata is returned and by using Get Online Video Metadata, I think I see why.

In the properties title, Akira 1988 is in the field. When clicking Get Online Video Meta is clicked, its title is showing Akira 1988 1988. I have a feeling that same incorrect title string is being generated the first time through by the automatic process and because of that, no metatadata is found.

If I remove one of the year strings, it does find the correct metadata.

Odd.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for reporting this. We've also seen the wrong language artwork retrieved in some cases. We'll fix this for the next release.

Can you post the FFmpeg information for your Akira 1988 movie? Right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'.

While you’re looking at that... with 3.2.0.0 (I have not yet deployed 3.3.0.0), in addition to the problem described in this thread, I’ve also seen Mezzmo replace cover art embedded in mp4 files with artwork from the Internet as part of automatic metadata retrieval.

What makes this particularly annoying is that there is no way to select embedded artwork in the Properties dialog. Once Mezzmo ever replaces the embedded artwork with anything else, whether on its own initiative or due to user error, there is no straightforward way to restore the embedded artwork.

Thanks for reporting this, Coises. Do you have a MP4 example file that you can upload for us to test with? Upload it to a filesharing site like mega.co.nz, dropbox or rapidshare and email us the download link to support [at] conceiva [dot] com. That will help us test & fix the problem.

Just an Update - Mezzmo v3.3.1 has just been released and it has the fix for the wrong language artwork being retrieved for movies and TV series. Any new video you add to your Mezzmo library will now get the correct language artwork. For existing artwork, you can update them using the Maintain Library dialog with the "Video files" checkbox selected, the "Update artwork" checkbox selected and the "Update all attributes" radio button selected. You can set the language of the text metadata and artwork that you want to retrieve from web sites like IMDB and TheTVDB in the Metadata Retrieval Settings dialog (go to the Options dialog - Retrieving Metadata page to access this dialog).
