I've been using Mezzmo for some time now, and it always worked nicely.
However, yesterday I created a smart playlist for my music files, similar to the party shuffle list, but excluding some genres of music, and not sorted by title, but random shuffle. I also increased the amount of files to 1200.

This list did not work, and in fact, it crashed the Mezzmo gui every time I tried to open it. I deleted the list, and recreated it. It worked then in the GUI again without crashing the application. I could see all the music that was selected by the smart filter.

However, when I go to one of my DLNA devices (I tried on a Denon AVR, Dune HD, Media Connect on my ipad, and even on my LG smart TV - all with the same result), I can see the list, but when I select it, nothing shows up. In other words, no music files are listed.
When I take a look at the Mezzmo server, I can see that it is using CPU, from the moment I try to open the list on the media device.

I then tried to remove the DB, and have it recreated by deleting all the files in the user profile. After the best part of an hour, where mezzmo catalogs my music, I recreate the smart list. However, the problem remains the same.
Then, I decided to remove and reinstall the application including the database. After recreating the db, and recreating the smart list, I tested again, but, same issue...

I'm running the latest version 3.3.1.0 on a windows 8 Hyper-v guest with 6GB RAM and 4 CPU's assigned.

Please advise what I can do now...

Its a bug in limiting the playlist. I have the same bug when i limit the playlist to a certain number of files it shows nothing anymore. When removing the limit all files are shown.

You can download an updated installer from our website and run it to repair your installation files and this should resolve the problem.

ok. I downloaded the updated installer, ran it, and my devices could see the smart playlist.
However, I cannot stream anything anymore... To be sure it wasn't the computer, I installed mezzmo on a different machine, and tried from there.
The same problem... Now I can see the smart playlist, but I can no longer stream files :(

If you need more info, let me know.

Can you connect to Mezzmo from your devices? Can you browse playlists/folders & see files from Mezzmo on your devices? It's probably best we see a set of logs. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Reproduce the problem by connecting to Mezzmo on your device(s) and browsing some folders/playlists and trying to play some files. When it fails, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I could browse everything. But, with the logging on, I did the same again, with the same result. Then, I looked into the logs that were created, and I found the problem. For one reason or the other, Mezzmo was not able to open the files. Which was strange, as I was logged on to the machine with an account that has access to the media files. One thing that I didn't mention before is that my files are on a synology NAS, and my network is on a Windows Active directory domain. I started the media server with my domain account instead of localsystem and that solved my problem.
I must've done that a long time ago when I installed Mezzmo for the first time, which is why it worked before, but with reinstalling it a couple of times, I forgot to do that.

Sorry for the trouble. Everything seems to work fine again now. Thanks!

OK - glad you are up and running again :) Thanks for letting us know.

(BTW - we do have an FAQ related to this - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/4597-FAQ-Accessing-files-from-external-computers-and-NAS-drives-on-your-home-network)

Yes, I know... I saw that FAQ.
Which is why I probably changed it when I installed it first... But I didn't think that it might've reset during my trial-and-error testing... :(
I was a bit focused (well, according to my wife, a bit more than focused. I think she used the term "obsessed", whatever that may mean :)) on the smart playlists that weren't working correctly at first. Then I think I got a a bit of tunnel vision...
