Greetings!

I would like to see Folder Art when browsing my library, especially Music since albums are organized as folders.

Server is a Windows 7 PC with Mezzmo.

Client is an LG 55LA6900 "Smart" TV (2013 model that Mezzmo supports). It has the LG "Smartshare" feature.

Everything is working fine (I am still in setup/shakedown/learning mode) except that the Folders containing a music album's tracks appear on the TV screen as generic Windows folder icons, not the preferred album/folder art.

a) The individual tracks do have the appropriate album art on the TV.
b) On the PC using the Mezzmo GUI the folders/albums do have the appropriate album art.

I have checked the Mezzmo Device settings and Folder Art is enabled. I have also checked that the Metadata Retrieval options has all sources checked "On".

I have read that some DLNA clients do not support Folder Art (why, oh why....?). Do the 2013 LG "Smart" TVs' (Smartshare) as DLNA clients support Folder Art?

If so how do I enable it?

Thank you!

(I apologize if this has already been addressed but I did not find it)

Hi Muad Dib,

If you see folder artwork in Mezzmo and the 'Deliver folder artwork' checkbox is checked for your device, then Mezzmo server will deliver always folder artwork to your device. It is then up to your device's firmware to display this folder artwork, and unfortunately quite a few devices don't display folder artwork (for some reason ). So if you don't see any folder artwork on your LG TV, then there's nothing we can do about it - it is probably not available due to a firmware limitation in your TV. If you do see folder artwork on your TV when using other media servers, then do let us know and we can determine what your LG TV model requires.

Paul,

Thank you for the reply.

I have discovered by trial and error that the folder art, in this case for music folders each containing the songs on a single album, do appear correctly on the LG Smart Share client display but only if accessed using the Mezzmo Library/Music playlist(s) (Recent, Music, Videos and Photos being the four primary categories).

The LG Smart Share client has a fifth category/option, Linked Device, of which the Mezzmo server is one of the devices. If the Mezzmo server is accessed via the LG Smart Share Linked Device option, its playlists/folders are presented and accessed as "PC" folders with the generic folder icon only - in other words - no folder art. This seems to be the case even if the same folder is presented via the Mezzmo Library/Music playlist(s) with folder art. The files within the folders, in this case song tracks, do have artwork displayed but the folder containing them does not

This was the cause of my confusion. I also found it necessary to perform a "Maintenance" operation on the Music Library and stop/start the server but will test that again soon. :)

If any of the above is incorrect please let me know.

I now have a question regarding Mezzmo Playlists and the LG Smart Share client but will post that as a separate thread.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for this information, Muad Dib. Please email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com and we'll provide an updated device profile to try. In your email, let us know what device profile you are using for your TV in Mezzmo. Go to the Media Devices dialog to see this.

Mezzmo Tech support spent some time working with me on this issue.

As it turns out the LG 55LA6900 Smart TV DLNA Client App is not very smart or sophisticated.

It does not accept/display user created playlists as well as many of the Mezzmo playlists in the category menus (Videos, Photos, Music) but does display the artwork.

If the "Linked Device"/Mezzmo menu option is used it will display the user created playlists and the Mezzmo playlists but the icons for all of them is a generic "folder" icon - in other words the artwork provided by the Mezzmo Server is ignored.

Until a better Client App is available for the LG 55LA6900 (and other 2013 LG models) this will probably be the case regardless of what media server app is used.

Now that the issue is identified I will simply use the "Linked Device"/Mezzmo menu option. I like the Mezzmo Server GUI and its ease of use in creating playlists and organizing media files/folders. I just won't get all the pretty pictures.

Many thanks to Paul and the Mezzmo tech support team.
