Hi,

I am using Mezzmo 3.4.2 for my LG TV 2013 Model.
Is there any way to stream embed subtitles without extracting them and without Transcoding?
If I enable transcode for my TV 90% of my video files are unwatchable due to "Unsupported file" so I cannot stream embed subtitles and I need to extract them which is slow proccess even with my Good machine. Thanks.

Hi,
if you are streaming the files to your TV with transcoding disabled then Mezzmo is delivering the file with the embedded subtitles for your TV to play, since you are not getting subtitles displayed this indicates that your TV does not support embedded subtitles in this format so you will need to extract the subtitles.

We can improve the device profile support for your TV so that you can enable transcoding and still be able to watch your videos, please post the ffmpeg information of one of the files that does not play when transcoding is enabled (right-click on the file in Mezzmo and select 'Get FFmpeg Information...'). You can also try using the LG TV profile instead of the LG TV 2013 profile to see if this works better.

Hi iNfRaSoNIC,
Your movie video container is Matroska, and is having many of embedded subtitles, mostly in High Definition PGS format (used by Bluray). This format (image based) is generally not supported by media devices. There is also one "dvd_subtitle" format on the list described as Bulgarian, some media devices are able to display this format (eg: WD Live) however your LG TV is not supporting it (as far as we know). As said above, if you do not see subtitles when streaming original movie than the strategy to stream embedded subtitles (by original or transcoded video) cannot be used by Mezzmo DLNA service.
Extracting "dvd_subtitle" may help, Mezzmo can burn this format on top of the video frames. If transcoding on-fly is too slow, you may try to pre-transocode video.
LG TV 2013 is supporting many external text based subtitles formats (srt, sami, ass), it may be the most effective way if you can find these subtitles on the internet that are matching your movie. After downloading srt file, copy it the the video folder, rename to match the name, and try with media player like VLC.
Mezzmo will detected these subtitles after maintenance and you should be able to see them on TV when streaming.
