Windows 8 Phone setup

Seriously struggling here. Can anyone advise how to stream to, and play on, my Samsung Ativ W8 phone please.

Do I need 3rd party apps etc?

I seem to have found a solution using an app called AV Remote.

Glad you found an app :) Set the device profile to 'Microsoft Windows Phone 8' in the Media Devices dialog. This will help playback of your media files.
