Different Humax boxes producing different outputs?

I have a 500Gb Humax T2 and a newer 1Tb version. I don't understand why when I transfer the ts files from each to my PC and then fetch them to my Bravia TV via Mezzmo, the ones from the 500Gb stream unaided but the ones from the 1Tb model go into transcoding. As far as I can see the software on each Humax is the same version. I used Mezzmo to show me the ffmpeg info for a file from each and the only difference seemed to be the bitrate, 3760 from the 500Gb box and 3972 from the 1Tb box. Can that be causing the difference? The transcoding works but is a pain and I want to see if I can get that box working like the other one! Any ideas welcome.... thanks.

Thanks for the information. You are right - both files are quite similar.

What device profile is assigned to your Sony Bravia TV in the Media Devices dialog?

Also, after playing each of the above files, right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click Properties. On the Properties dialog, go to the Transcoding tab and check if there is a transcoded file listed there for your Sony Bravia TV. If there is, then Mezzmo is streaming the transcoded file to your device. Check this for both files to confirm that both files either have no transcoded file or have a transcoded file. You may find both have transcoded files. Let us know the result.

Fascinating, you were right, BOTH files are transcoding when played, BUT, the one from the 500Gb box transcodes and plays instantaneously so you can't tell it is happening, but the 1Tb box file takes several seconds to get going and then seems slower to process, hence me believing this was the only one transcoding. One other difference is that the files from the 500Gb box have thumbnails displayed in the Media Files panel, but those from the other box just display a small default icon.

There seem to be 4 entries in the Device List for the TV, two with a zero IP address and the other two have Device Profiles of "Sony Bravia KDL (2010 Models)" and "Sony Bravia KDL".

Strange, but these files from the two different boxes are definitely being handled differently for some reason!

Hi MDB,

Please turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging). Stop your Mezzmo server and go to the Media Devices dialog and remove all devices. Then start your Mezzmo server and your Sony Bravia TV should be re-listed again.

Try streaming both files and then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo application. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com for analysis.
