Changing size font in SRT file without transcoding.

Hello,

I have recently bought Mezzmo 3.4.4 for my Panasonic TX-L42ET60E TV and I am just wonderring if there is any way to change font size of external SRT subs without hardsubing and transcoding? I know that with SSA subs there is no problem with editing size and colour of subs but Panasonic is unable to read this type of subtitles. I have found that muxing SRT file with MKV movie results creation of file where the subtitles are a little bigger but still it is not enough. I have tried to mux SRT file with SRT.STYLE file and MKV movie but as you can suspect I have failed. So there is any solution except transcoding to resolve this problem?

Hi wiggly,

Happy New Year to you! Since you are streaming the SRT directly to your TV, then it is up to your TV to display the SRT. Some DLNA devices let you change the font size, colour, etc. so check your TV's settings by pressing the Tools or Options or Settings button on your remote control. If your TV does not, then you could try editing your SRT and adding FONT tags (see http://www.sub-talk.net/topic/2988-a-couple-of-questions-about-srt-how-to-change-fonts-position/) for a sample. If your TV does not support the FONT tag in SRT, then you can burn the subtitles into the video using Mezzmo and when doing this, Mezzmo lets you specify the font size, colour, shadow, outline, etc.

thanks for the wishes :)

I have tried to edit my subs by using HTML tags and changes are visible under MPHC but not while watching the same movie using mezzmo, XBMC or Panasonic TV. Is it possible that mezzmo remove somehow these tags or both my DLNA clients simply can't support this feature?

When streaming your external subtitles directly to your devices, Mezzmo is not changing your external subtitle files (SRT, etc.) in any way. The FONT tag is not well recognized so your Viera TV is most likely ignoring it :( A quick search on the internet shows that many Viera owners complain about small subtitles and having no ability to change the size via TV settings. That really means you turn off external and embedded subtitles for your TV in Mezzmo and let Mezzmo burn your subtitles into the (transcoded) video so you can adjust them to any size. color, font, encoding, etc. that you wish.
