I am new to this app. I saw it recommended on a web site, and thought I'd give it a try. I have been testing several others also. I use a Samsung Smart TV.

I have been going over the information available in the FAQ and tutorials section, and it caused a bit of concern after checking the settings. With the other apps I have been reviewing, you can set one of them to update immediately on new files or changes, and the other has an interval setting where it will recheck. I don't seem to see anything about it with this product. Does it not update automatically, such as new downloads?

On an unrelated note (I ask here only because I thought someone else might use a Samsung TV also and know), is there any way to make it list the lowercase letters intermixed wit the uppercase? That is, it will list a folder named "A Time to Run" at the very top, but a folder named "a Time to Run" would be listed at the bottom under all the other uppercase folder names.

Thank you.

Hi mystik,

Yes - if you have added a folder into your Mezzmo library, then Mezzmo will dynamically check the folder and sub-folders for any changes (new files, deleted files, new sub-folders, delete sub-folders, etc.). Mezzmo checks the folder's contents whenever you access that folder either when browsing the folder from your device or when browsing the folder in Mezzmo application. So new downloads will be automatically listed when browsing the folder on your device(s).

Regarding listing/sorting of files on Samsung TVs, if you have an F-series TV, then it appears Samsung TV's firmware is sorting the files itself (alphabetically) when it receives a file listing from the media server (such as Mezzmo). This is not great and many Samsung F-series owners are unhappy with this - especially when they wish to have a music album sorted by track, or a TV series sorted by season & episode, or a recently added playlist sorted by time, or a most played playlist sorted by play count, etc. For Samsung B, C, D, E-series TVs, these Samsung TV models list the files in the order that the media server provides them to your TV - which is great. In the case of Mezzmo, Mezzmo supports 'natural' sorting so that "A Time To Run" and "a time to run" and both grouped together before titles starting with "B", "b", etc. In Mezzmo you can sort by many different attributes - such as random shuffle, title, album, artist, track, series, year, play count, etc. Simply right-click on the folder/playlist in the tree in Mezzmo and click Properties. Select the sort attribute using the "Sort by" combo box.

Thanks much for the reply and information. I appreciate it. I thought I had already replied here, but I came back to check for a reply (in case the email notification was not working), but don't see my message. Let me try again... :)

I discussed this sorting issue with the developer of another server app I was testing called KooRaRoo. That software had the same issue. However, he added an option in device properties to capitalize the first letter of files and folders, and this addressed the issue. I would just use that app except for the fact that it does not remove files/folders that have been deleted. I can work around about everything else, it seems, but that is not something I want to be present.

So, I'm still checking out other options. Is there any chance for an option like that in Mezzmo?

We probably will not add that specific option since it really is specific to a firmware issue on one manufacturer's devices (i.e. Samsung F-series TVs/BDPs). Rather we are planning more flexible titling options where you can choose the style and layout of your titles. This will cover your needs and address other titling requests from other users.

Thank you for the update. Is that going to make it into 4.0?

I don't think so :( But it should appear in the following version.
