My config first:

win7 sp1

Netgear wndr4300 using Readyshare to network 3TB attached to router

Mezzmo 3.4.4

Connection (wireless 5.0 gz) to Panasonic Viera 2011 and Directv Genie (RH44)

If I move files (movies) from my PC to the NAS, do I have to transcode the movies (again)? The answer I believe is yes, unless there is some way to use the previously transcoded files already done while using the PC only. Re-transcoding same to be the only anwser or I have missed something I can configure in Mezzmo.

Answers....?

There is a "Change Paths" feature in the current version of Mezzmo (v3.4.4.0) where you can change the paths of your files in your Mezzmo library when you move them to a new location on disk. This allows you to retain all metadata. See this FAQ - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/6219-Tutorial-How-to-update-your-Mezzmo-library-when-you-move-your-media-files

However, the current version (v3.4.4.0) does have an issue where your transcoded files are not re-linked to the original files' new location. This issue has been fixed in the upcoming Mezzmo v4.0 that's due to be released in the next few weeks. It is a free upgrade for all registered users.
