Two things to try:

When the video is playing on your device, press the Tools or Options or Settings button on your device's remote control and see if there are Display mode or View mode or Zoom mode settings. Often devices have display/view/zoom settings to let you view the video as zoomed, fitted or as original.
If your device does not have these settings, then you can try the "Adjust video aspect ratio" checkbox on the Device Settings dialog (Performance tab). This will tell Mezzmo to adjust the pixel aspect ratio to use square pixels when transcoding your video. Go to the Media devices dialog and edit your device. Set this checkbox and then go to the Transcoding tab on this dialog and delete your transcoded files. Try streaming now.

The tv has no zoom settings and I have tried it with that checkbox checked and unchecked

OK - it's best we see a set of logs. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Go to the Media Devices dialog and edit your device. On the Device Settings dialog, go to the Transcoding tab and delete your transcoded files. Now stream the video and when it appears with the wrong aspect ratio, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
