I do not understand why VAT (Value Added Tax. A UK Sales Tax.) @ 20 % is charged on sales.

I was about to purchase Mezzmo when I noticed this.

Concevia is an Australian Company and the money handler -Digital River is in California.

Having purchased Software before off the net I have NEVER been charged VAT on it.

Could a Representative of Concevia inform me why they want to add 20% to my invoice? Are They VAT registered?.
And more importantly do they remit this Tax to the UK government after collecting it.

Conceiva uses eSellerate (Digital River) as our eCommerce platform and they handle all VAT matters - including collection and remittance. See their article regarding VAT - http://support.esellerate.net/link/portal/5570/5618/Article/377/How-does-eSellerate-collect-VAT
