I'm running Mezzmo 3.4.4.0. I just added several .vob rips to the library. I'm trying to edit the metadata so they display in the library the way I want them to...

- in the detailed view of Mezzmo's library, I have the Name and Title field displayed. I'm able to edit the Title field. I can't figure out how to edit the Name field. What's the difference between these fields? Where does Mezzmo pull the Name information from? Should I be able to edit the Name field?
- Is there a way to pull the artwork from the file on a frame by frame basis? I seem to be limited to 5 - 10 second intervals.

Thanks, Bryan

Hi Bryan,

The "Name" column in the Details view in Mezzmo is the file name. For example, a video file such as "C:\Video\Inception_x264_ac3_1080p.mkv" will have a Title of "Inception" and a Name of "Inception_x264_ac3_1080p"

You can get the artwork using frames of the video. On the Properties dialog, click the "Get Artwork From Video" button and move teh slider to get artwork from a specific time. You can also use the left/right arrow keys on your keyboard to increment/decrement by 1 second.

Note: The upcoming Mezzmo v4.0 does have much better text metadata collection and poster/backdrop artwork collection, so be sure to try this new version when it is released in the next week.

Thanks Paul... The left/right arrow keys on the keyboard did the trick. Much easier than trying to move the slider with the mouse.

On the filename: The files are VOB files that are named VTS_01_?.VOB. So Mezzmo has to be pulling the name field from something other than the physical file name. Is this info encoded in one of the other files (.BUP or .IFO)?

And lastly...looking forward to v4.0

Glad the arrow keys works for you.

We use the folder name of the DVD/Blu-ray rip/iso as a guide to what the movie/TV show is named. Then we use that for online metadata lookups to collect text metadata and artwork. So the better you name your folders, the better the collected metadata will be.

My file structure is \\DNS321\Volume1\Media\Other Videos\P90X\<unique diskname>\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_?.VOB. Mezzmo has abstracted this structure into the file name P: S090 E00?? (Title 1); obviously not a very good or meaningful name. Is this the product of my folder naming or the metadata lookup? Is there anyway that I can edit or correct the names?

Thanks.

We have made some good improvements in getting meaningful names & metadata from file paths in the upcoming Mezzmo v4.0. However, we do recommend that you use the name of the movie or TV show as the folder name for the DVD or Blu-ray folder or ISO. And, if possible, adding a year suffix will help narrow down the correct movie when multiple movies of the same name exist. For example, \\DNS321\Volume1\Media\Other Videos\P90X\Gravity (2013)\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_?.VOB.
