First let me say thanks for version 4. Now I'm desperately waiting for an ios app ;) I was wondering how the new database works. The size shrunk from 1.2 gb to only 25 mb which is a good thing. but now i found a artwork folder with a whopping 2gb in size. i guess these are the thumbnails but what are the images in the backdrop folder used for? how where the thumbnails saved in the last version?

Hi fastbuck,

In Mezzmo v4.0, we have separated the text metadata from the images and this has resulted in a much smaller & faster set of database files. All images are now stored in the "Artwork" folder. We are now much better at re-using existing images - thus avoiding image duplication where possible.

Regarding the larger total file size for all your artwork, this is probably a result of upgrading to Mezzmo v4.0. If you maintain your library and get new artwork, then I think this will reduce significantly (even with the additional backdrop artwork that we're now collecting).

Mezzmo v4.0 does collect extra artwork - i.e. poster/album artwork and backdrop artwork. This lets you have the great looking details pages you can see in our new Mezzmo Android app.

ah, ok. I just now found the option to disable backdrop artwork for which i haven't yet a use because im an ios user. i've deleted all artwork and maintained the library. now there's just one image for each file represented in my database, so all's good.
one little thing: i use the filename display instead of titles and in the past version they would display as named. in v4 the first letter is capitalized and the rest is lowercase if seperated by dots or dashes. couldn't find an option to change it to display it as named.

Glad you found the disable backdrop setting. Regarding the filenames, we had that issue reported to us by another user and we've fixed it up just now. We'll probably release a minor update that includes this fix and a few others reported by users. This minor update should be released by the end of the week.
