Hi, i'm using the latest v4, but I had this issue before. Think I figured out a workaround that worked in v3, but doesn't seem to work in v4. Don't remember what I tried.

I do have a general question about the PS3 profiles, whats the difference between PS3 and PS3 (compatible)?

My main issue, is I have a bunch of MKV files which the PS3 doesn't support. My server is not fast enough to transcode them.

The video and audio codecs inside the MKV container the PS3 does support. So if I re-muxed them to a MP4 container they would play fine.

Is there anyway to get Mezzmo to see my MKV files and serve them like there in a Mp4 container for the ps3?

Please post the FFmpeg information for the videos. Right-click on the video in Mezzmo and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'.

ffmpeg version N-59793-g7a8318f Copyright (c) 2000-2014 the FFmpeg developers
nput #0, matroska,webm,video.mkv':
Metadata:
encoder : libebml v1.3.0 + libmatroska v1.4.1
Duration: 00:29:52.81, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 5200 kb/s
Stream #0:0(eng): Audio: aac, 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp (default)
Stream #0:1(eng): Video: h264 (High), yuv420p(tv, bt709), 1920x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 1k tbn, 2k tbc (default)

The other files are basically the same.

If I manually re-mux the file into a MP4 container the PS3 plays them perfectly.

Skipping over another question are we? what is the difference between PS3 and PS3 (Compatible)?

Can't seem to find it explained anywhere.

There is not too much difference between the two device profiles and we can probably remove the "PS3 (Compatible)" profile. We recommend you use the "Sony PlayStation 3".

Mezzmo should be transcoding your MKV on-the-fly to MPEG-TS with the h264 and AAC being re-muxed into the new MPEG-TS container.

Same issues here but I changed to Playstation 3 (Compatible) and the issues stopped..

That's what V3 was doing, transcoding on the fly.

V4 doesn't seem to be. Maybe I had it set at PS3 (Compatible).

Will have to test that later, and report back.

That's why I was wondering what the difference was.

Let us know if "Sony Playstation 3 (Compatible)" works and we'll look into what's happening regarding transcoding.

Weird, the regular ps3 profile worked this time.

I was watching the transcoding tab, it started to transcode then stopped and just streamed.

Got to watching something and didn't have time to test PS3 (compatible) :o

I need to test a few more files to be sure.

Just wish I could remember what my v3 settings were.

When upgrading to v4, it would fail in trying to convert my v3 database (which was upgraded from v2 successfully), it would start then all of a sudden the program would freeze. I would leave it for hours and nothing, No CPU activity, etc. Tried it a couple of times same result.

I had to delete the old database and make a new one in v4.

We did have a problem with v4.0.1.0 regarding the upgrade process. This was fixed in subsequent versions, including the latest version - v4.0.3.0.

Let us know if you find further issues with your PS3 streaming.

Yea I can confirm the update process didn't work at all for me. When I started the update process Mezzmo got stuck in a infinite update crash loop and I eventually had to completely uninstall Mezzmo and delete the Mezzmo Database Files folder (17GB and none of that size was transcoded files) and then to a clean install. I have a VERY large movie database (all .iso's) and I had to re-review each one and verify that the correct movie data was placed on each movie one at a time.(Especially since I already did all that before) Total pain in the butt to say it the nicest possible way. It took me over a week to review\fix them all.

Also fast forward and rewind does NOT work on the PS3, you can only go to 1.5x forward or rewind. Any speed over that and once you hit play the PS3 just hangs unless you press stop first and then press play.

Sorry for the upgrade pain. Next time, contact us early when you have a problem and we'll get you back up and running without having to start from scratch.

Regarding your PS3, it's best we see a set of logs. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Reproduce the FF/REW issue on your PS3 (go over 1.5x to show how it does not work) and then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
