View Full Version : v4 title naming?

Something happened when I upgraded from v4.0.2 to v4.0.3, and I lost all my metadata. I'm assuming this caused Mezzmo to take it upon itself to re-determine titles for all my videos. My home movie files are named using this format "2009-06-25 to 2009-12-19 #14 1080p.mpg". Now for all my movies, Mezzmo has translated:

the name as "2009-06-25 To 2009-12-19 #14 1080p" (capitalized the T and removed the file extension)
the title and sort title as "2006 06 25 to"

Is there an automatic way for me to correct this? I don't want to have to update all the metadata manually because this data doesn't get saved with the file... which means I would have to do this all over again if I were to encounter DB problems (again).

The way to do this is using Display Titles. Go to the Options dialog (General page) and click the "Display Titles" button. On the Display Titles dialog, change the display title for both Home movies and Videos. If you want to see the file name, then use %FILENAME%. If you want see the filename and file extension, then use "%FILENAME%.%FILEEXTENSION%". Click OK and your titles will be updated. Maintain Library is not required.

Hi Paul. I changed the display title for both Home Movies and Videos to use %FILENAME%. I see no change in the main mezzmo screen but when I go to play them, the titles are correct on the device menus. Is there a way to reflect this preference in the mezzmo program also?

Also noted that the Display Titles dialog lists Videos but the default category properties lists DVD. I added a Video category and it picked up the change. Not a big deal but I'm assuming you would want the set of categories locked into the Display Titles dialog to match the preloaded category properties.

If you are viewing your files in Mezzmo using the Details view, then make sure you have the Display Title column displayed and not the Title column. Right-click on the headers in Details View and click 'Customise Columns'. This lets you add the Display Title column and remove the Title column. Hopefully you should see your Display Titles in Mezzmo just as you see them on your devices now.
