View Full Version : Random PS3 playback error 80028801

No reason or pattern to when it happens but happens a lot more frequently lately and is getting annoying. Random types of media codecs and or containers, doesn't matter transcoded file or not. Can never duplicate the crash at the same point of a video. I normally just restart the mezzmo service and keep watching but I'm tired of doing that. I just cleared out my logs and am playing tv shows again waiting for the error so i can submit logs to support. Actual screen error is:

"ps3 content cannot be played (80028801)"

Anyone else having / had this issue? Resolution?

Actually just happened again. "This content cannot be played. (80028801)

Logs zipped and sent to support email.

We have not had reports of this yet with Mezzmo v4.0. From a quick search on the web for this error code, it seems to be a format/codec decoding issue where the PS3 struggles to decode & play the file streamed to it. This could be a result of the original file that you are streaming or the transcoded file that Mezzmo (via ffmpeg.exe) has created and is streaming. We'll check the logs and respond back shortly.
