Hello,
yesterday I got my Amazon Fire TV Box, but it comes without an DLNA app for accessing my Mezzmo Server.
When I look in the Amazon AppSTore I can find Mezzmo there but I am not allowed to get it in Germany "You are not eligible to purchase this app due to geographical restrictions."
When will it be available in Germany?
Or is there an other way to install Mezzmo App on my Fire TV?
Many thanks for any helpful answer.

Hi Rainer,

We don't have any geographical restrictions for our Mezzmo Amazon app, so you should be able install it from Germany. The error you are getting may be for another reason. See this Amazon post and follow the steps to fix it - http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/forums?ie=UTF8&cdForum=Fx2NFGOONPZEXIP&cdThread=Tx2VF5U2X3S0ZIQ

Hi,
I found it in the German Amazon AppStore. http://www.amazon.de/Conceiva-Pty-Ltd-Mezzmo/dp/B00MI7G1LA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411718183&sr=8-1&keywords=Mezzmo
But it is marked as not compatible with Fire TV (in compatibility window white cross in red circle left to my Fire TV entry). Amazon Support told me that the developer handles the compatibility flags. So can you change compatibility with Fire TV into true please?
THX a lot.

OK - we'll double-check that and re-submit it to the Amazon AppStore. We'll let you know when it's ready.

Hello,
any News for this issue? Mezzmo is still listed as not compatible with Amazon Fire TV.

PS: Plex already has a Fire TV compatible Version in Amazon AppStore.

We are in the process of releasing a new Mezzmo Android app (v1.1) and this will be Fire TV compatible. Should be available next week.

Sorry for the delay. We'll be releasing in the next few days. Just fixing a few issues that have been found in Beta testing.

I guess it may take several hours to propagate through their various stores. If it does not appear in 24 hours, let us know and we'll look into it further.

Still no update on amazon.co.uk.....

It looks like Amazon is slow with the update. I have upgraded the version that I purchased through the Google Store, but the version available on Amazon U.S. is still v1.0.0.8 (as of 11/1/2014 8AM EDT). It's the same whether I update or do a search like I was installing it new.

Agree. I guess Amazon's app review / validation department is either swamped or just slow to validate queued apps. Google usually validates apps within a few hours. We'll monitor it and report back if any problems.

Update: I can confirm that Amazon is still reviewing the new version (v1.1) of the Mezzmo Android app before releasing it into their store. So we'll just have to wait until they validate it.

Amazon has confirmed that Mezzmo Android v1.1 has been published on Amazon App store - but Amazon did not approve the app for their new Fire TV or Fire Stick devices. Apparently these new devices require some special app coding to be approved . We'll need to do some follow-up with Amazon tech staff regarding what's required on our part. So for the moment, Mezzmo Android v1.1 will only be available on Amazon App store for Kindles, etc. We'll post back here when we have completed the Fire TV and Fire Stick approval.

Hi Paul, when will this be fixed and the Fire TV compatible App available in Amazon App Store?

Paul
11-05-2014, 07:59 PM
Sorry - we cannot give you a definite release date yet. We are looking at the issues now. In short, Amazon Fire TV and Fire Stick devices require navigation / control of Android apps (like Mezzmo Android) through their gamepad or remote control - as compared to touch navigation for Android tablets and smartphones. There's a few areas in the Mezzmo Android app where gamepad / remote control navigation does not quite work, so we're looking into it now. We'd appreciate it if you email us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com to assist testing on your Fire TV / Fire Stick.

Is there a Device Profile for the Amazon Fire TV ?
Using the Kindle Fire just gives a "Cannot Play this media" error, even with a pre-transcoded file.

If it is an audio file you should use the Conceiva Mezzmo (Android) profile. If this is a video file then it depends upon the app your are using on the Fire TV to play the file, can you please tell us the name of the app?

Please post the FFmpeg information for one of the files you are trying to play. Right-click on the file in Mezzmo (Windows) and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'.

Attached file with info from a VOB based file and MP4 file.
Transcoded files will not play either...

Thanks. Mezzmo Android app has a built-in music player and photo viewer, so that's why these files work fine. For video files, when you select to play a video in Mezzmo Android app, you will be prompted what app you would like to play the video in. You cannot choose Mezzmo Android, since it has no video playback features. For Android devices, we recommend MX Player app since it has good format support and good playback features. If this is not available (yet) from Amazon App store for Fire TV devices, then you will need to download a few video apps onto your Fire TV and try them until you find one that can play your videos. Let us know what you find so it assists other Fire TV owners.

I have tried a couple of Apps to see if they can be used as players for Mezzmo, with little success.
The nearest I have come is with Vimu Player, but that will not play from the Mezzmo App, even though it shows in the "Complete Action Using" step.
I did once get the Vimu App on its own, to play a pre-transcoded file, but even that seems to not work any more. It would never play a file with transcoding on the fly, but seemed to work after it's done.
If the file is a MP4, then you can pick "com.amazon.bueller.photos" to play it but as 99% of my rips are full DVD VOB's that doesn't work.

To sum up, nothing really works.... Vimu did work a couple of times as a stand alone player, but nothing with Mezzmo as the front end.

My server is 2012 essentials with a Xeon E3-1230 V3 processor with 16G RAM on a Supermicro motherboard, so plenty of power to transcode on the fly....

You can side load apps onto the Fire TV, for video files I would side load MX Player. When trying to play a video file Mezzmo (Trial) will send a message to the android OS and the app capable of playing the content will be launched. If there are multiple apps to handle the content then you will get a choice from a list of which app to use so if you install MX Player using side loading you should be prompted when playing a video through Mezzmo (Trial) allowing you to select MX Player.

Hi guys,

I might have overlooked it - is there any progress regarding the Mezzmo on Fire TV approval issue? Does it work now or is there still some work to do? I am just curious as I plan to buy one of those boxes.

Thanks,
Michael
