So, I just bought a new sharp LC 70EQ10 and hooked it up to the network. Hooked up to the network via cat6 gigabit network, plenty of bandwidth onto an I5 w/16gb ram and plenty of processing power to transcode as needed.

However, whenever I try to play an MKV file from the DLNA menu I get a "Can't play file". It doesn't even seem to be trying to transcode it or anything. The TV does claim to support MKVs.

I have tried all four sharp profiles (NTSC, PAL, Sharp 2011, and Sharp 2012 - using the last). Only one that plays anything is the Sharp 2012 which plays everything I have tried except the MKVs it seems.

On the same network I have a Vizio M series, and two Sharp LE635's all of which are playing the MKVs just fine.

Little help?

We may need to create a new device profile for this model. Please turn on logging on Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Next, go to the Media Devices dialog and edit your Sharp TV. On the Device Settings dialog, go to the Transcoding tab and turn off transcoding. Click OK to save your changes. Try streaming your MKV now. It may stream OK now since Mezzmo server is streaming your files directly to your TV without any transcoding. Next, turn transcoding back on and try streaming the same MKV. When this does not play, then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Zip up all the logs and email them to us. In your email, also include the supported video, music, photo and subtitle formats for your TV. This will assist us create the new device profile.

Paul, still having these problems and having issues with replying to your emails.

If you are using a Gmail email address to send the logs, then it may bounce back with a "read error". This appears to be a problem from Google and many people are complaining about it to Google. For the moment, upload the logs to a filesharing site like Google Drive, Dropbox, mega.co.nz, etc. and email us the download link.
