View Full Version : Windows Maintenance while streaming

Hi,

Not sure if this is a windows issue or something Mezzmo could prevent happening

Not every time but sometimes when I am streaming, windows maintenance kicks in (auto defrag is the bad one), streaming files from my external drive this is no issue, but if I have anything local on my c drive this causes stuttering in the playback

If I move the mouse then it stops, and playback is fine until it resumes the maintenance again, usually after about 5 mins, is there anyway that Mezzmo can prevent maintenance running, I would have expected windows to see it is doing something and pause these tasks, but it seems as though if no mouse/keyboard activity is seen, then windows assumes the machine is idle so starts its maintenance tasks

I can solve this by making sure nothing is stored on the c drive (including transcoded files) but just wondering if anyway other than that to prevent this

Thanks

Paul

We'll investigate this further to see if Mezzmo server can prevent the maintenance task being triggered in Windows. In the meantime, you could disable automatic maintenance in Windows. See this link - http://superuser.com/questions/497500/disable-automatic-maintenance-in-windows-8.

Thanks for the reply
I will use the method you linked to when next streaming local files from c drive

Its not often I stream content from here, so no big issue and can be got around

Cheers
