View Full Version : Unnecessary transcoding to Xbox 360

I just built a new media server and got Mezzmo installed and running. While using my Xbox 360, I noticed that Mezzmo is transcoding files that were not transcoded with my old server. I'm not sure if this is a difference with the build that I didn't realize or possibly settings.

Anyway, now that the server is transcoding files, I've lost the ability to skip back and forth. The strange thing is that I try to turn off transcoding to my 360 and it still transcodes. Any suggestions?

Right-click on one of the videos that is being transcoded (when you think it should not be) and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Post that information here. Also, let us know if you have subtitles associated with the video. To check this, right-click on the video and click Properties. On the Properties dialog, go to the Subtitles tab to check if Mezzmo has picked up any subtitles for the video.

When transcoding is turned off, then Mezzmo will not transcode files. You can turn transcoding off completely for your Mezzmo server using the Transcoding Settings dialog, or per device using the Device Settings dialog (Transcoding tab).

There are subtitles associated with this particular movie. I don't recall them ever displaying though.

I did try turning off transcoding for this Xbox 360 only. I restarted the server. When I started to watch the movie again, it continued to transcode.

Next, I turned off transcoding altogether, restarted the server, etc. This time, it did not transcode but played. However, it would still not allow me to skip back and forth. It actually will progress backwards and forwards, like it will show the picture moving, but when I hit play, it starts the video over from the beginning. I tried another video and it did work correctly so it is not every video. Also, it signified on my 360 which videos would not play after turning transcoding off altogether. When I had just turned off transcoding to just the 360 it would still play all videos.

It was also a long time ago when I made the backup of this particular Bluray, so I can't be certain about any of the details of its creation.
