Using v 4.1.3.xx on Win7

This is surprising to me but not really a significant issue. That is, if you select the menu item Maintain Library and then the Maintain Files Tab, clicking the CLOSE button will start maintenance just like clicking the Maintain Now button. I kind of expect CLOSE to close the dialog without taking any additional action. So I try to remember to click the red X in the upper right corner of the Window.

Just noticed that clicking the CLOSE button on the Tools Tab will also start up maintenance.

Are my expectations wrong that CLOSE should not start any maintenance?

Well, I was kind of wrong about CLOSE starting maintenance. It only makes you think it is starting maintenance. I have the maintenance option set to update all files during maintenance as opposed to updating only new files or those with missing info. When you have the "update all" option selected you get a warning when you start maintenance. The warning says "You are about to overwrite info.....Do you really want to do that?" or something like that. When you click the CLOSE button that warning pops up - that is what made me think maintenance was starting. But it turns out if you click "Yes, I do want to make those changes", the pop up goes away and no maintenance starts.

I guess this is just confusing, at least to me!

Hi Larry,

Glad you got it sorted. Clicking the "Close" just saves your maintenance settings & closes the dialog. This lets you customize the maintenance settings without firing off maintenance (e.g. to adjust the maintenance settings for a scheduled maintenance task). The warning message boxes do appear when you select the "Update all attributes" and "Remove non-existent files" checkboxes to warn you that these settings will do something serious to your Mezzmo library - even when you click "Close" button since these settings will be used if you have scheduled maintenance.
