Hi,

I've gotten Mezzmo to work beautifully on my LG Smart TV and my PS3, and I am trying now to make it work well with my other non-smart TV with a Chromecast on it. I've been able to stream files well, but the subtitle format is not satisfactory. Unlike the format shown in the Smart TV, the subtitles in the Chromecast have a black background and an ugly font. I am aware that for the Chromecast, Mezzmo needs to transcode the file I want to see in order for the Chromecast to play it with subtitles, but so far I've been unable to adjust the subtitle transcoding settings so that the subtitles show in the same way as they do in my Smart TV and my PS3. How do I do this?

Thank you

Paul

Glad you like Mezzmo :). For Chromecast dongles, when you stream external or embedded subtitles, they will have a black background as you say. This is the default Chromecast subtitle style. Currently there's no to change this in Mezzmo, but we'll look at this for a future version.

Rather than streaming external subtitles to your Chromecast, you can burn your subtitles into the transcoded video and this will let you choose the font, colour, text size, etc. To do this, go to the Media Devices dialog and edit your Chromecast dongle. On the Device Settings dialog, go to the Subtitles tab and turn off external and embedded subtitle streaming. This tells Mezzmo to just burn subtitles. Try streaming a video and see how you go. If you don't like the subtitle's text, font, colour or size, then go back to Mezzmo app and go to the Options dialog (Subtitles page) and click the 'Global Settings' button. The Subtitle Settings dialog will let you change the font, colour, size, etc. of your burnt subtitles. After making changes, remember to delete the previously transcoded files for your Chromecast so you can see the effect of the subtitle changes. Go to the Device Settings dialog (Transcoding tab) to delete transcoded files for your Chromecast dongle.
