View Full Version : Can Mezzmo play a DVD ISO just like mounting a DVD, with menus, etc?

I have a TON of DVD ISOs of TV series and so on. Each DVD has multiple episodes, and a menu to select the episodes. I have copied all these DVDs to .ISO images on a hard drive array; Mezzmo plays parts of some of them, won't play others properly -on many the time scroll doesn't work and the time shows 0:0:15 on the right is is counting backwards into negative numbers on the left, etc.

MEZZMO doesn't "see" all the episodes in each .ISO and doesn't catalog them properly anyway without a lot of manual fussing. I'd much prefer if Mezzmo would just play the ISO as if it were a DVD player playing a DVD. Is there a way I can set MEZZMO to do this?

Also, I have a number of Criterion Collection DVDs, and other DVDs with excellent supplemental content, and MEZZMO doesn't really make these available easily- for example, it shows four entries for THE THIRD MAN. I can't tell which is the extra content (if any) which is the movie etc. Again, I WOULD MUCH RATHER MEZZMO PLAYING THESE .ISOs AS IF IT WERE JUST MOUNTING A DVD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Mezzmo cannot play DVDs using the menus that are on your DVDs. Unfortunately, this is not part of DLNA streaming.

When you add your DVD ISOs into Mezzmo, Mezzmo finds all videos in the ISO and lists them all in Mezzmo for playback. If you have some ISOs that Mezzmo is not reading correctly, then let us know and we'll find out why this is not working.

If some of your videos on your ISOs are short duration videos (less than 15 mins), then Mezzmo will be skipping these by default. Mezzmo tries to avoid adding videos that are used for menus, copyright notices, etc. so that you just get the main movie or TV shows added into your Mezzmo library. You can change this behaviour easily - see this FAQ: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/7622-Tutorial-Controlling-what-videos-are-read-from-ripped-DVDs-Blu-rays-ISOs.

LOTS of DVD ISO's that Mezzo doesn't see / list in the Library- none of them are less than 15 minutes.

For example The Outer Limits (Complete Original Series) - 14-DVD Box Set ( Amazon ASIN: B00LE36FZ6 for details)

Johnny Staccato starring John Cassavetes - 3 DVD Box Set (Amazon ASIN: B003Z3C728 )

Any of the Forogotten Noir film sets (Amazon ASIN: B000HC2LLW, B0013PVGH2, etc)

Mezzmo does not recognize any of these DVD ISO's as anything, they don't show up in the library, etc. I'd say about HALF of the 300 DVD ISO's I have stored are totally ignored by Mezzmo.

Note that all these files play just like a DVD though my network using VLAN as a player, playing the file directly- so I know the files themselves are OK.

Thanks for the feedback. We'd like test one of these DVD ISOs here and fix the problem for you. To do this, can you upload one of the problem DVD ISOs to a filesharing site such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, mega.co.nz, etc. and email us the download link to support [at] conceiva [dot] com? That will enable us to reproduce the issue and fix it.

I am using the 14 days evaluation version because I heard that Mezzmo can handle DV-ISOs.
Now I found out that it is useless.
I have a lot of ISOs, they are all Music-DVDs in ISO format.
No one of them is recognized. If I select one of them and start playing, then a explorer window is opened where I can see the folders AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS and also
all the .VOB, .BUP and .IFO files in the VIDEO_TS folder but in the Mezzmo-Library I can only see the *.iso files which are marked as (ungültige Mediendatei).

This actually doesn't make much sense. DLNA is meant as standard to distribute media menu wise. A DLNA server itself presents all the media to any DLNA client, rendering their own local menu based on the dlna server.
So basically, what your asking is a menu for streams of menus.

I doubt DLNA would be capable of that!

the actualy idea behind DLNA, is you have audio files (not menus) videos files(not menus) photos, etc. and a DLNA server organizing and if needed transcoding and present this nice collection to clients, with their own menus to select which of the media you want to render.

In the case of movies, you stream and render a video ..

I think the basic idea for a server in your network is not having 1000 DVD drives with 1000 SATA cables and 1000 DVD spinning around, but what I, and I believe most people do, is using handbrake to make your own nice collection of series, movies, etc.
Over the last 20 years my collection of photos (200.000+) music (20.000+) movies (1500+) and series (6000+ episodes) grew nice and large. Mezzmo is the only (out of over 100 tested software solutions) that handles my huge collection without problems .. except for home grade hardware restrictions which from time to time force router-switch reset (once every 3 or 4 months, using dd-wrt everywhere)

Oh, and of course having 2 servers, with all data mirrored, at 2 locations on the continent.. in case of lightning, theft, etc.. you never know :)

But my 2 tools are handbrake and mkvtoolnix, with the GUI plugins of course. and Subtitle Edit and http://2cyr.com/decode/?lang=ru and http://www.syedgakbar.com/projects/dst to handle subtitles for special occasions, usually cyrillic because russians refuse to use international standards unfortunately, but I don't wanne miss several russian productions which are sometimes really great. So I need to convert their non-international into international standards.

once you get everything into international standards, mezzmo supports everything 100%, including any language, once it's formatted to international standards.

Hi Rainter_T,

If your music DVD ISOs have many short duration tracks (< 15 minutes), then one reason for Mezzmo not picking up the music titles on your DVDs will be explained by this FAQ: http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/7622-Tutorial-Controlling-what-videos-are-read-from-ripped-DVDs-Blu-rays-ISOs.

If you are still having problems, then we'd like to fix the issue. Can you upload one of the problem DVD ISOs to a filesharing site like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, mega.co.nz, etc. and email the download link to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com? We'll be able to reproduce problem you are having and fix it for you.
