For Some reason sorting by Year of an Smart Playlist stopped working, although it worked like a charm in earlier versions.
I used to name movies like that : "Movie (Year) Resolution" (resolution like 720p, DVD, SD...)and then I let edit a tool the change-date of the file properties of my movies to the date they were created and then mezzmo took these dates.
Did I do something wrong or is it a bug? Is there a way to tell mezzmo it should take the year out of the file-name instead out of the file properties?

edit: Smart Playlists sorted by first letter work proper

Thanks in advance, rapisho

Right-click on a file in the smart playlist and click Properties. On the Properties dialog scroll down (or resize the dialog) until you see Year edit box. It the year value correct? If not, then that's your problem (i.e. your files do not have the year set correctly so the smart playlist is sorting them strangely).

Typically, Mezzmo collects movie's text metadata and artwork from your external metadata files (.NFO, .XML, .TGMD, etc.) or from online sites like themoviedb.org when you add your files into Mezzmo or you maintain your files. At this time, it also collects the year of the movie. Is Mezzmo collecting text metadata and artwork for your movies?

Ok now I got it, I was used to mezzmo getting the year from file properties, but now it gets them form metadata files and I deactivated all metadata checkboxes in maintain properties. Now I turned on to get metadata from nfo and tbn files and for all movies for that I have those files the year I extracted correctly.
The problem are the movies for those I dont have the nfo/tbn files, I turned on to get metadata from online sites but mezzmo didnt get any metadata for them. Is there a way to solve this (get the year information) without creating nfo/tbn files for the movies?

Thx for your quick reply!

edit: nevermind, I turned on to get metadata form file and file path and now it works :)

I think I got another problem that has to do with this stuff. Since I changed the settings to make the years show correctly, some of the movies that dont have a nfo/tbn file containing the information dont have the type of title that I want (what would be ideally like the generic filenames "Title (Year) Resolution.mkv"). Instead sometimes only the Title is shown what woult be okay but there are also movies that have a completely wrong title and as I noticed now also the year is shown wrong. Is it possible to get this working without creating the nfo/tbn files? Thanks in advance.

You can right-click on any file in your Mezzmo library and click Properties. On the Properties dialog (General tab), you will see all text metadata, poster and backdrop that it used for the file (you can scroll down to see all of the text metadata). So, you can manually edit each of the fields if you like. Or, for video files, you can click the "Get Online Video Metadata" button at the bottom of the Properties dialog to search for a matching movie/TV show from online web sites. When you find your matching movie/TV show, click OK and Mezzmo will auto-populate all the text metadata fields into the Properties dialog.
