Can you guys recommend a good video editing / compression program to shrink my homevideos to play in mezzmo. A simple 1 hour home video is running approx 6gb and it is no great resolution.

Thank you in advance

https://handbrake.fr (This is what I use about 99.9% of the time)
http://ripbot264.en.softonic.com/?ab=0 (This is what I use when I want simple or want to burn in the subtitles, but it doesn't allow multiple audio tracks so I usually use Handbrake)
http://vidcoder.codeplex.com/ (Never Tried it)
http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html (Works, but the interface can be confusing as hell)

All are free and do a great job as long as you set them up correctly.

I use Vidcoder mostly these days. Very good quality conversion. Can either passthru the audio or convert it to another format , say DTS to DD5.1 etc.
