Hi guys,
Loving Mezzmo however I have encountered a really frustrating issue recently, I will try to keep it simple and to the point:

I run windows 7 (with mezzmo duh)
Samsung S5 with the mezzmo app
2 NAS, 1 is a seagate black armor business NAS and the other a much older Netgear Stora.
Streaming to Chromecast

Recently removed password from Windows account (only account on the computer).
Sometime soon after lost the ability to browse the Stora folders. The BA NAS still works fine.
To go into detail, all files are still viewable via the mezzmo PC app, however with the android app it just loads for about half a second then nothing, no files, even though the root folders are visible, the subfolders are not.
BA NAS loads fine and PC files load fine.

I have read about the NAS credentials and the tick box thingy in the services menu, done all that and even uninstalled and re installed, re applied password, EVERYTHING. Cant get the damn thing to work.

On a side note, with the BA NAS I add the single root folder and it doesn't display that NAS warning message, however when I add the Stora folders, it does display the warning.
There are other niggling issues related to mounting the network folders but I know that if I get this sorted then it will work, I don't want to confuse the issue.

TIA.

I have since discovered that the files are visible with the android app of i select browse by letter or browse by file type. Browsing by folders (how I always browse) shows no folders.
Plex however works just fine..... once you get accustomed to the crappy way it presents your files.....
Im guessing support from mezzmo has ended?

It probably has much more to do with the configuration of your NAS. Most will have levels of security that are bound to user or group accounts. Typically one of the first to go is the browse by folder.

As to the mezzmo support ending, don't think so You posted on what would be their Friday evening give them a chance to get back to work.

Support has not ended . Just enjoying the weekend with my family :).

The problem will most likely be related to access permissions - whereby your Mezzmo server (which is running as a Windows service on your PC, and by default under the Windows Local System account) cannot gain access to the files stored on your NAS. If you have not done so already, see this FAQ to fix the problem - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/4597-FAQ-Accessing-files-from-external-computers-and-NAS-drives-on-your-home-network. This FAQ typically gets most (if not all) users with NAS issues up and running.

After trying these fixes, if you are still having problems, then it's best we see a set of logs. Turn on logging (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Now try to connect to Mezzmo server from your device and replicate the no files listed issue you mention. Once reproduced, then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

OK folks.
Finally got time to have another crack at setting this thing up again.

Bottom line is I got it working..... Top line is, I dont know how really.

-Had "updated" to windows 10 since we last spoke.
-Fresh install of mezzmo yielded same issue as before, no folders visible only on the android app and only from 1 NAS, even though it was configured correctly credentials-wise (re: your instructions)
-hit window key+r to bring up run prompt
-netplwiz + enter
-highlight my account then unticked users must enter a password to use computer
-went to services, made mezzmo use only my account, entered the username and password (even though its no longer needed to login)
-???
-It now works.

Did exactly the same thing in W7 and it didnt work..... I guess something was screwy somewhere.

ALSO:

Can you please add lockscreen controls for the new mezzmo android app like netflix does? Just pause and stop would be fine.

Glad you are up and running now & thanks for sharing your solution.

The upcoming new version (v2.0) of Mezzmo (Android) app does have lockscreen controls :).

Curious Paul,

Why does mezzmo warn me about adding NAS files when I add any folder from the Seagate, but never warns me no matter what for the Stora?
What criteria is mezzmo looking for?
Note: Im adding both directly from network browsing, not via network drive shortcut.

Mezzmo uses standard Windows APIs to determine if the drive is a remote drive. If it is a remote drive, then the NAS warning dialog is displayed. It appears that your Stora's Windows driver is not treating it as a remote drive (...perhaps it's treating it as a fixed drive or removable drive), so no NAS warning message is displayed.
