Mezzmo on a NAS device - Without Computer?

I just joined the forums after seeing Mezzmo on the Conceiva website, and seems like a great solution for multiple file formats that aren't supported by basic DLNA devices...

Here is my setup, and concerns before dl'ing the trial and purchasing the software:

Sony DLNA supported LCD TV, 1 TB Buffalo Tech NAS device, all over wired network. I have a laptop wirelessly attached to the network, but it is NOT always at home with our network, let alone I know I cannot stream data from the NAS device, through the air to the laptop (assuming it has to run Mezzmo software), back wirelessly to the router, to the wired TV for output.

Can Mezzmo run on the NAS device? without having a computer as the 'go between' device? That is way too much to stream over wired/wireless back and forth. I am hoping to find a way to utilize Mezzmo on the NAS, and NOT need the laptop around the house as it is often with another member of the family sometimes not connected to the network.

I already have the TV, and NAS Device, so please no "get rid of ____" solutions please. ;) Thanks to Conceiva or anyone else for thoughts/suggestions on this setup.

Since Mezzmo is a Windows application it cannot run on a NAS, which usually have some flavour of Linux installed, so unfortunately you still need your laptop or a different PC to run Mezzmo.

Is there a possibility of changing the transcoded file/video folder to the NAS drive? Kepts saying invalid option, but I don't have a large amount of space available on the laptop for transcoding files that are 1GB in size in their native format (F1 races, and the like) Thanks!!

It should let you change the path - are you using a mapped network drive or a direct share when specifying the path?

Drive is a NAS network drive wired to the router, utilizing my network places in WinXP to access it yup.

So, when you enter a path is it like "\\mydrive\myfolder" or "x:\myfolder"?

Yes Dennis, similar to the first (\\NAS Drive Name\Share Folder)

That is where I get an invalid location error.

Strange, it should have access then, unless you have some security settings enabled on that folder. If you right-click on the folder in Windows Explorer and check permissions on the folder, is everyone allowed access or is it limited to certain users?

Dennis, I wanted to update and see if you can share some insight...

This NAS drive actually shows as drive L: and I have made a "Transcoded" folder on the drive, and made it the location for transcoding new video files (and moved already transcoded files there).. NO PROBLEM with that, where the issue now lies is that it seems NOTHING will transcode to this location. I have no problem copying/writing files to the drive as well as that folder, is there something I am missing. When I view it in Windows explorer, only folder options are 'read only' 'hidden' 'archive' Read only is greyed out & checked (typically meaning some file is read only, some are not)... I uncheck this box, click apply, and close... reopen that properties dialog, and it goes right back to read only.. ALTHOUGH even with this attribute, I can write data into that folder WITH NO ISSUE... making me think there is a communication issue from Mezzmo to that location, since other apps use that drive w/o issue. Thanks!!

Just as an FYI, I have faith that you/Conceiva Support will come through for me, so much faith I even purchased Mezzmo already. ;-)

Can you please check the sharing option and somewhere on the advanced tab there'll be permissions for individual users and groups of users - you'll want to share the Transcoding folder and give "Everyone" and also the same user as the server is registered to full permissions. Maybe that'll help - please give it a try and see how you go.
