View Full Version : Directtv Genie (Hr44) does not recognise Mezzmo DLNA Server

Good morning,
I am reaching out to advise that Mezzmo DLNA server for Windows is not recognized by the Directtv Genie (hr44) any longer. It seems that the older HR 22 model does recognize the server, but not the genie. One point is the genie will recognize Windows Media Via Windows Media player, but we all know that this option is terrible and pales in comparison to your product. Any ideas how I might be able to remedy this issue? Is there a way to mimic the settings of Windows Media Player so it is recognized? Any information you provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,
please enable diagnostic logging http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging then after restarting your Mezzmo media server turn on the Directtv Genie and after about ten minutes send the logs to support [at] conceiva [dot] com so we can investigate why the Genie is not detecting Mezzmo.

Directv HR44 no longer displays the media share however it did before a firmware upgrade by DTV. So i am aware it's probably there issues but I am getting no help from them so I am hoping maybe a tweak to a profile may help.
Please help if possible.

It appears that either there are several devices on your home network with an IP address of 192.168.1.25 or your router may be poorly configured. Switch off your router for a few minutes and then switch it on again. Restart your Mezzmo server. Switch off your Directv HR44 for a few minutes and switch it on again. Now try to list Mezzmo on your HR44. If that does not help, I suggest you check your router's settings. More tips are included in the FAQ - http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/1183-FAQ-Cannot-see-Mezzmo-on-your-DLNA-device.

It did all of the above issues and it did not resolve my problem. The IP address of the directv Genie is set static at 192.168.1.25 that is the device that has the issues. please help.

Go to the Media Devices dialog and edit your Directv device. Change the device profile from 'Generic Device (NTSC)' to 'DirecTV HR44 (Genie)'. Click OK to save your changes. Next, go to the Media Server Settings dialog and click the 'Configure Windows Firewall' button if it is enabled. Then on the same dialog, change the name of your Mezzmo server to another name (e.g. 'My Mezzmo') and click OK. This renaming will force your Mezzmo server to be re-registered as a Windows service and may unblock any restrictions that may be limiting DLNA/UPnP communication on your home network. Now try to list Mezzmo server on your Directv device(s).

I made the changes to the profile and the server name change, I am not running any firewall or AV software. The unusual thing is the Directv HR22 (192.168.1.11) works fine not sure what to do. let me add that if I turn media sharing "ON" on my laptop computer the media share icon on the Genie device appears!

We'll need the Mezzmo server logs. Turn logging on in Mezzmo and restart your Mezzmo server. Wait a few minutes and then try to list Mezzmo on your Genie. When that fails, then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Zip up all the logs (in all logs sub-folders) and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Thanks - we'll analyze them and report back via email.

I'd appreciate being notified of any progress on this issue - appears to be over 8 months old at this point.

Hi,
the user's logs showed that the Genie communicated with the Mezzmo server and Mezzmo sent a response but after that the Genie sent nothing further so this indicated something like a firewall was blocking communication. There was a general issue with DirecTV Genies and a software update from DirecTV but this was a while ago and may have been resolved with a new update from DirecTV.

We now have a profile working with the DirecTV Genie, this will be released with Mezzmo 5.1. Please email support [at] conceiva [dot] com if you would like to try it.
