View Full Version : Scripting

I have noticed a number of limitations present in Download Studio with regards to downloading specific files or ranges of files. My suggestion is the implementation of custom scripting to allow users to declare download jobs with specifications down to the most infinitesimal detail. This is certainly not a necessity but I am one individual who would use such a feature religiously. Thank you for developing such a fine product!

Thanks for the suggestion. We will consider this for the next major version upgrade.

Ah, yes. I'm definitely for implementing scripting! I wrote a post regarding something similar here:

I'd like to add to that the possibility of the following (unless this is currently possible):

Take a site like the following:

I want to sniff that url and 1 link depth in (where the links are found in the comments) and have only certain urls found and either start to auto-download or come up in a window/save results to a text file. For instance, I only want to search for rapidshare.com links out of that whole page and all pages 1 link depth in. Then, I would like to either have an option for those links to start auto-downloading or just all be returned to an output or saved to a text file, etc. Is this currently possible? Thanks!

One tool advanced Firefox users might like to check out is FlashGot. It is a Firefox extension that works with download managers and allows some advanced methods of finding the files you want. It has a tool similar to DownloadStudios File range downloader. Here is the web site.

There are instructions in DownloadStudio on integrating Flashgot and DownloadStudio.

We plan on making some additions to the options for site jobs in DownloadStudio in the next major version. This may include blacklisting and whitelisting sites when following links, and black and whitelisting sites to download from.
