I apologize if this is redundant, but I didn't see a post about this.

Is there a filter that can display the last 5 movies played?

Thanks

You can easily create your own smart playlist to do this:

Click on Videos in the tree in Mezzmo.
Click 'Create Playlist' -> 'Smart Playlist' menu item
On the Smart Playlist Properties dialog, give your playlist a title (e.g. 'Last 5 Movies Played').
Add a rule:
[Category][contains][Movie]
Select the 'Video files' radio button
Set 'Date Last Played' as the Sort By setting.
Select the 'Limit playlist to" checkbox and enter 5 items.
Click OK to save your playlist.

You should now have a playlist that lists the last 5 played movies :).

Thanks Paul!

Unrelated -- I'll try to find/send the Samsung Series C/sleeping network NAS fix today.

Paul,

Some of the movies I play do not show up on the last 5 played list. While troubleshooting, I noticed the "Last Played" and play Count info is not updating in the Mezzmo app. How long do I need to watch a movie before the info updates? Most of the time, I watch movies in 20 to 30 minute blocks (I have kids) -- which is the reason I wanted the last 5 movies played list (to quickly resume the movie).

***EDIT***

I tested with long and short videos. The short ones (e.g. 5 minutes long) update right away, but the longer ones (1-2 hours) do not. I haven't played one in its entirety yet to see if the server eventually updates.

The Play Count automatically increments for your files in your Mezzmo library after a certain amount of the file has been streamed to your device(s). Be default, this is the 20% of the file. You can change this value in the Options dialog (Streaming page).

BTW, we have made a change in this area for Mezzmo v5.0 where the Last Played Date is always updated whenever a file is played - even if the file has not been played enough to increment the Play Count (which was the case in Mezzmo v4.x). This allows you to create a playlist of (say) videos that you have played recently.

Thanks Paul,

I discovered that last night when testing videos of different lengths. The smaller the file, the quicker the server updates. I watch videos in short bursts (due to kids) and want them shown on the last played list -- even if I watch 5 minutes. IMO, a video should log within a few frames of playing it. I'll mess with the play count value.

***EDIT***

Lowest value is 10%. Not granular enough for my needs -- but better that before.

Understand. Mezzmo v5.0's improvement with Last Played Date will fix this up for you.

I upgraded to v5 last night and see the lowest value is still 10% -- which equates to 12 minutes on an average movie. I need a more granular value to ensure the "last played" list updates after 3-5 minutes of playtime.

In version 5 Mezzmo is updating the last played date every time the server reads from the file, so you do not need to rely on the play count to see which files have been played recently. Create a new smart playlist (or remove the match condition on the last 50 played playlist) and sort by last played date (Descending) and this should provide you with a playlist that shows which files have been played recently.
