So I love mezzmo, and it works great with my older Samsung 55 inch tv. Unfortunately, for some reason, about 30% of my videos wont play on my new Samsung UN65HU8550. They give me an error that says "This file is not supported". The weird part is when I take the file and copy it to another folder on the shared drive, it will typically play. Any idea what could be the problem? I'm guessing it isn't auto transcoding or something.

Check the device profile assigned to your TV in the Media Devices dialog. It should be 'Samsung H'. Next, edit your TV in the Media Devices dialog and, on the Device Settings dialog, go to the Transcoding tab and make sure transcoding is turned on. After making any changes, restart your Mezzmo server and try again.

If still no success, right-click on one of the videos that do not play and click 'Get FFmpeg Information'. Post that here or email it to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com.

Thanks for the prompt response. So I checked and it was already set to H and had transcoding checked. Here is the FFmpeg info. Thanks!

Thanks for the information. Mezzmo server should be transcoding this video to a compatible format for your TV. When you try to stream the video to your TV, do you see the file listed in the Transcoding pane in Mezzmo (Windows) app? If it is busy transcoding in the Transcoding pane, then that's good. If it is listed there as Failed, then click on the 'Failed' text and email this to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. If the video is not listed, then do a few things: (i) go to the Transcoding Settings dialog and make sure transcoding is turned on, and (ii) right-click on the video and click Properties. On the Properties dialog, go to the Transcoding tab and delete any transcoded files listed there. Try streaming the video now and let us know how you go.

It's showing it, but then saying Server Paused. Then it's trying to transcode all of the other files in the folder (well the first 6), but none of them work. For some reason I can't upload the image of the screenshot. Here is the link https://www.dropbox.com/s/tme98a7ox2qwyfw/Mezzmo.gif?dl=0

Try this: Right-click on one of the videos in Mezzmo and click 'Pre-transcode File'. On the Pre-transcode File dialog, select your TV and click the 'Choose Formats' link. On the Transcoding Formats dialog, select the bolded format and click OK. Click Ok to start transcoding. Wait until the video has been fully transcoded and then try streaming it to your TV. Does it play OK?

So I did what you asked me to do, and it said "Mezzmo has already transcoded this file. Do it anyway?". I chose yes, and then realized that by going to that folder it began transcoding all of the files in that folder. Is there any way for it to do this automatically as files are added to the library?

There is no way to get Mezzmo to auto pre-transcode your files. The above test was to confirm that the pre-transcoded video plays OK on your TV. Does it play OK? If it does, then we can tweak the device profile to transcode these videos in a manner that they play correctly.

Yes. I'm watching the file now. Once it finished transcoding, it worked fine.

OK - that's good news. It tells us that the device profile is OK and transcoding is working OK. So, it sounds like there is another problem with your setup. Please turn on logging in Mezzmo (see http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging) and restart your Mezzmo server. Now try to play some videos. When you come across one that does not play, then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. In your email, let us know what video did not play OK, and we'll be able to track down what is going wrong on your setup.

Sweet. Sounds like a plan. I'll mess with it tonight. Thanks!
