For a reason I cannot see a pattern in, devices reset to Automatic and I have to reselect the network adapter.

This happens more often after an update but also seems to be random. Possibly when a device alters it's IP address.

Hi,
Mezzmo does not keep track of the changing IP address of an adapter so when the IP address changes and the selected address cannot be found it is set to Automatic even though it is still using the old IP address you set so in this case communication will be blocked. You should use a static IP address for the adapter to avoid this happening.

Thanks but it does retain all the other settings such as name, profile etc. why does adapter reset but nothing else, I expect it's retaining the details based on mac. When I swapped router recently and all ip addresses changed all details were kept apart from adapter.

Also when I select adapter I only have two options, automatic and the network adapter on usb so I can't understand why automatic would not work anyway.

The PC had an internal wifi adapter but that's disabled in cmos and doesn't show up on the list and the normal wired ports, again neither show up on the list.

Hi Steve,
Mezzmo does remember the ip address but when the settings dialog is displayed Mezzmo gets a list of the adapters on the PC and tries to match the ip address against the list, if the ip is not found in the list then the setting is left at Automatic. So if you set the adapter to the one with ip 192.168.0.50 and then your adapter's ip changes to 192.168.0.40 it will not match the stored value so it will be left at Automatic.

Sorry Paul I think I am not quite understanding this. My PC's adapter's IP is not changing (i.e. server side), the only possibility is a devices IP address may alter (i.e. client side).

This also doesn't explain why, if Mezzmo only sees one adapter on my server, why doesn't automatic work, surly automatic will use the only adapter available?

Hope I am making sense.

Hi Steve,
this is a bug in Mezzmo where automatic is shown even though the value is set to an ip address. The ip address set does not match your network adapter so Mezzmo leaves the setting on Automatic but this does not represent the actual setting so when the device tries to connect to Mezzmo the ip address that is set will be compared to the ip address of the adapter that receives the connection and if they don't match then the connection will be rejected. Changing the setting from Automatic to the current ip address will update the value in the Device Settings then you can click OK and then go back to Device Settings and change it back to Automatic.
