View Full Version : Mezzmo strange behaviour and crashes

I've been trialling Mezzmo for a month or so now and things have been working really well. Then, starting yesterday, I have had some very strange behaviour -

1) My TV can see the Mezzmo server and can browse the files (although this is slower than it used to be). Generally the files can be played OK, although there have been a couple of times when they wont, or stop not long after after starting.
2) When this started I went to my PC that runs Mezzmo and noticed that it was really bogged down (most likely 100% CPU utilisation) and there were multiple Mezzmo notifications repeatedly popping up on the right hand side of my screen. This kept happening until finally it crashed with a runtime error.
3) When it restarted I checked the Media Devices dialogue. Mezzmo can no longer see any of my devices on the network. Going to my TV though, it can still see Mezzmo, but when I start to play anything I get the same problems as above.

I have restarted Mezzmo, my PC, and the attached devices. I have re-installed Mezzmo, but the problem keeps happening.

I have attached some photos (literally had to use my phone as the PC wont let me do anything when the problem occurs). It shows the notifications on the right side of my screen and the Media Devices dialogue with no devices detected showing. All this is happening while my TV is playing music from Mezzmo.

Any ideas?

Hi Dion,
it sounds like there might be some database corruption occuring and this is why the Devices list is empty and also why Mezzmo keeps discovering devices as if they are new. Please enable http://forum.conceiva.com/showthread.php/419-FAQ-How-to-turn-on-diagnostic-logging then after restarting your Mezzmo media server and Mezzmo wait until the problem occurs then send us the logs to support [at] conceiva [dot] com so we can investigate.

Thanks Peter,

I thought you would ask for the logs so I turned it on...but it is a couple of gigabytes in size. I could upload it for you, but I assume a smaller set would be better?

I'll clear the logs tonight and try and get a "clean" set with just this problem to send through.

Hi Dion,
adding the logs to a zip file should reduce the size considerably. You can upload them to dropbox or another file sharing site and send us a download link or we can provide you with a file request URL from dropbox so that you can upload them to our dropbox account.

OK I'll give that a go.

The logs show that the devices table has been corrupted and Mezzmo is failing to update it when a device connects, if you send us your Mezzmo database we can try to fix this problem. Go to options in Mezzmo and then you can see the folder where the database is located, open this folder in Windows explorer and then stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo. Add the Mezzmo.db file to a zip file and send it to us by uploading it to a shared server and send us a download URL.

You can also reset the database from options in Mezzmo to create a new clean database then add your files again.

Hi Peter,

just to let you know, I did the database reset and everything up and running perfectly.

Once again, thanks for you help and quick response.
