View Full Version : Library cleanup not working?

I've noticed something - not sure if it's me or what.

I've got some files which I renamed to more meaningful names which Mezzmo prefers.

When I go to the folder view, I only see the renamed file.

However, if I do a search, both the renamed file AND the original file name show up.

I tried this from the Mezzmo program on my computer (as well as from Kodi on my media player).

I see in the search results that the "original" file name has a size of 0 mb. So I tried to right-click and then delete it. It still shows up in the search results.

Then I did a maintain library and selected the check box that says to remove files from the mezzmo library that do not exist on the computer.

Did another search, and the file still shows up.

Am I doing something wrong?

Just tried it here and it worked fine . The deleted file no longer shows up in Search results after maintaining the library to remove the non-existent file. It's best we see a set of logs when you do this. Turn on logging (see http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?id=using_logging). Stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Run Mezzmo (Windows) app and reproduce the problem again with a video file (i.e. rename it on disk, click on the folder in Mezzmo to display the new file, maintain your library to remove the non-existent file and then search for the file using Search in the toolbar). Once reproduced, stop your Mezzmo server and exit Mezzmo (Windows) app. Zip up all the logs and email them to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com for analysis.

OK Paul. I've uploaded the logs to dropbox and have emailed a link to you.

Thanks - we'll download the logs and report back via email after we analyze them.

I'm not sure how, but I got it cleaned up. I turned off the logging, got rid of the logs, compacted the database, and then ran maintenance manually at the "folder root level".

Hi,
the logs did not have any log files in the Mezzmo folder so we were not able to investigate the issue but it is good to hear that the issue has been resolved.

Hi Peter,

I'm facing the same issue here (Mezzmo Version 5.1.1.0).
I've deleted a file from my Hard Disk and added a new one to the library (different file name). Both are about the same movie and therefore have the same metadata.
As a next step I performed a Maintain Playlist run with activated "Remove media files ..." (and in the Metadata Retrieval Settings deactivated everything to speed up the maintenance run) and the run is successful.
But when checking the autogenerated playlists, both entries are still present although I expected that the one from the deleted file is gone. The autogenerated playlist I'm using is Video --> Movies --> <first character of the movie>.
Do you have any idea what could cause this / am I doing something wrong here?

Thank you for your help,
Josef

Hi Josef,
please make sure to check the box to remove files from the library that cannot be located on disk when you run Maintain Library and this should remove the duplicate file.

yes, this option is checked (and I also get the warning message when clicking on Maintain Library if I'm sure that I want to perform it)

Can you please try right-clicking on the file in the playlist and select Delete to see if this removes the file from the library?

This is working. Now the entry is gone from the autogenerated playlist.
Thank you.
As I have more of those cases, is there a possibility to force a complete rebuild of the autogenerated playlists from scratch or do I have to delete the files one by one?

Running Maintain Library with the box checked to remove files from the library that cannot be found on disk should perform this task on the library by checking to see if the file exists on disk and if it does not then it is deleted from the library. Are you running Maintain Library from the toolbar in Mezzmo or by right-clicking on the playlist?

Ah, now I get it.
I always performed the Maintain Library via right-clicking on the playlist for the (physical) folder that contains the movies but never for the autogenerated playlists like Video as I thought this is only a different view on the "real" Library.
Classical user error.
Thank you for your support here.
Cheers,
Josef
