Having trouble viewing series.xml description for all tv shows. I have series.xml file in root directory of a show... c:\Outcast\series.xml as example. I have backdrops and a Season 01 folder in there also. Video files, metadata for each episode and pics are all in season folder. In Mezzmo, I figure I should be able to look at properties of the Outcast show and see series info in description but it is blank. Using Mezzmo on phone doesn't show the series description either. All other metadata for my episodes show up. Am I doing something wrong? I have the box checked to look for series.xml on the server. I understand there are limitations to devices you stream to but Im looking directly on PC where Mezzmo is installed. Thank you for your help

It is probably that Mezzmo is not parsing your series.xml file correctly due to different tags/structure in the XML file. Please post the contents of series.xml file here or email it to us at support [at] conceiva [dot] com. Once we see the contents of this file, we'll know what's happening.

Looks like there a stray "-' character preceding <Series> tag. Remove that and it should work fine. Just tried it here and the name & description loaded fine :).

Paul,

It must be something else I'm doing. When I originally pasted the xml file, I double clicked it and it showed up in IE. I just copied it from IE when you asked for it. It displays a '-' in IE. I just went in to make the change by right clicking and opening with notepad and the '-' isn't there. Could I have some other setting I'm missing that's not allowing me to view it? I just did a fresh install of the latest software a few days ago. Here is the series.xml copied from notepad when I open it....

Everything looks OK. I just replicated your settings and it works fine.

Right-click on one of the videos in Mezzmo and click 'Maintain Files'. On the Maintain Files dialog, select the 'Update media properties and metadata' checkbox and 'Update all attributes' radio button. Click Maintain Now and wait for maintenance to complete. Refresh the folder/playlist containing the file and see if your metadata is there now.

If still a problem, check that you don't .XML files in the season folders that may be overriding your series.xml file.

If still no success, let us know your folder structure and the files within them. That may give us a better idea why it's not working for you.

I just finished running maintenance and still having same issue.

I'm not sure what you mean by having xml files in the season folders that may be overriding the series.xml. I've provided some pictures that will hopefully help out. Thanks again for all of your help. You can see that metadata is working on the episode level.956957958959

Last Pic didn't upload. I believe it's too large. It shows the metadata for an episode when I right click and select properties.

In your 'Season 01' folder, you have an XML file for each episode video. Mezzmo will read these for each episode video, and that will override the series.xml file contents. Please post the contents of one of these episode XML files.

Sorry - I understand your issue now. You are not seeing a series description for your folders (but your actual episode metadata is fine).

In the current version of Mezzmo (v5.0.5.0), we do not populate a folder's description metadata based on series.xml files within that folder. This is a good idea and we'll implement that for a future version of Mezzmo.

Great. Thank you so much for assisting. You saved me a lot of time trying to troubleshoot. I'll look forward to it in the future. Thanks again

Paul,

Do you know if this feature was ever added?

I am currently having the exact same issue and can’t figure out why.

I'm currently running Mezzmo Pro 5.2.1

Thanks,

Shawn M

This has not been done yet, it is still on our todo list.
