View Full Version : External Metadata file location

Hi, so I've been using Mezzmo for a while now, but I wanted to make my database look a little snazzier, and I have a number of videos that aren't covered by tvdb/imdb so I've been looking into the external metadata files.

Now, for a series I know Mezzmo can handle series.xml as well as <episode.xml> files - however, do all of these need to be placed in the same folder as the video files? I've seen some references that refer to episode meta files being placed in a "metadata" subfolder, but I have not been able to get that to work (naming the episode xml file the same thing as the video file in the parent folder apart from the extension), yet I'd like to avoid putting a ton of episode xml files in the folder with the video files if I can avoid it as I do watch things directly from my computer as well without using Mezzmo, and then browsing through an avalanche of extra xml files gets tedious.

Am I missing something?

Hi,
currently Mezzmo only supports reading the metadata files from within the same folder as your media files, http://www.mezzmo.com/wiki/doku.php?id=supported_external_metadata_files&s[]=movie&s[]=xml possibly we could add support for searching a metadata subfolder if it exists so that you could have all your movies in a folder and a metadata folder containing all of your {moviename}.xml files.

Thanks for the response!

Checking for a metadata subfolder if a file isn't in the base folder would be incredibly useful, if it was a possibility.

Hi,
we have made a change to check for a metadata subfolder containing an xml or nfo file with the same name as the video. This change will be in the 5.1 Mezzmo update we are working on. If you would like to try a patch send an email to support [at] conceiva [dot] com.
